Good interview on last nights Late Shift show with Bob Margolis.

Do you remember when you never knew what to expect from Tony week to week? Knock a tape recorder from a journalists hand. Donate a million to VJC. Gordon -vs- Stewart, Watkins Glen 2000. What happened to that guy? Tamed by NASCAR? Now we know what to expect. Did he just grow up or was he called to the hauler to many times?

Where has the character gone in this sport?

Where are all of the 'bad guys'?

Feuds, feuds, feuds..... Rivalry is what is needed. Doesn't that drive many sports? It gets people watching. Just see how many people tune into the Vikings/Green Bay game this weekend.

Keselowski/Hamlin could shape up to be one for next season in Cup but after a couple of calls to the hauler, they'll probably be quelled too. Sad.

Blast from the past! This is the kind of stuff that's needed in this sport to generate some more excitement.

Canada Eh!
Kyle Busch. But nobody likes it when he acts like a 'bad guy'.
You're right though, Hamiln/Brad should be interesting next year.

That was FANTASTIC! Yip Yip Yahoo! (I guess Larry wouldn't like that either though...)

Something tells me Brad K. won't be able to knock everybody around in cup next year.....

I'll tell ya something....the feud that could have been....Jr. vs Kyle.

But with Jr. not being able to run and stay in the front it took the steam off that one. And it's a shame because that would have shot the ratings through the roof!

And I'll say something else....if Jr. had the wins AND THE ATTITUDE that Kyle has....he would be considered a racing god like his dad. Because what Kyle has done is what people thought Jr. would do. If it were Jr. pissed off that he had so many second place finishes everybody would be saying "that's great man...that guy wants to WIN!".

I agree except..... if Jr. had the wins AND THE ATTITUDE that Kyle had.

Kyle's attitude has been disappearing in front of us all year long. It was more fun earlier in the year when you could count on him to do something to generate discussion for something he did before/during/or after the race. Not so much anymore.

I'm beginning to wonder if that was a sponsor thing. Because I've heard little tid bits that the sponsor wanted Kyle to turn it down a tad. But that's just a thought. I don't know.

I could see that. He drives for M&Ms, kids are drawn to his car because of that and become a fan because of that and the things he would do not necessarily were overly "kid friendly".

Also he is driving for a Christian Family, I am sure there is only so much they will put up with before they do something about it.

Jr. is not his father and never will be, nor does he want to be.... Too many fans out there are more fans of his Dad's then his. Too many fans out there expect him to be his father or want him to be his father. It will never happen and people shouldn't expect him to be or want him to be someone he is not.

Don't take any offense to this but I see/hear that kind of statement several times a week and it always seems to come from non-Jr. fans. I'm a Jr. fan & I was a Sr. fan but I've never expected Jr. to ever be as good as his father. Of some of my friends, that are also Jr. fans, I've never heard them say this either. I do hear it from most all of the hosts on 128 and callers when they describe Jr. fans though. Maybe I'm just different than most of his fans?

Kyle has toned it down. I never thought of it being sponsors I just figured it was the media. I'd figure his sponsors would love being in the media even if he finishes 20th because of his attitude.
But money talks

No offense taken, I am a jr. fan as well among others... But in my case I do know Jr. fans that are only fans because they were fans of his fathers and so on and that is why I say what I say and stand behind it. I never said ALL Jr. fans are like that but some are like that, you can not deny that.

I agree, it's just human nature. Also, many went with Jr. because at the time he was sponsored by Bud beer. So it was "cool" to wear the Bud gear and be a part of "Jr. Nation". Just like how there are now many new Steelers fans. Human nature. Be with the "in" crowd..with the "cool" people...the winning team.

Like....I bet a lot of guys would NEVER go with the driver with the extenze sponsor. They would never wear that stuff because other guys would rag on them with "so You need the pill huh?" or "so you come up a little short, do you?".

I sure wouldn't deny it. There are all kinds out there. But seriously, just because someone was a fan of his father doesn't mean that they now expect the same of Jr. I'm sure there are some, I just don't know them personally. I can also say that I've never heard anyone call into any one of the 128 shows stating that they expected him to be like his father either.

I would think that it is kind of a natural thing that if you root for someone and their son enters the sport, you'd tend to be drawn to them. I don't understand the problem with that.

I've never liked Tony Stewart. It wasn't Jeff Gordon that he'd get into it with either.

Robby Gordon and Kenny Irwin Jr. also got into it with him.

He's the scorpion in the frogs back. He's going to sting someone soon. Tigers don't change their strips. Even when they're given half a team (at least on paper)

Good for him for donating millions. So have many other drivers. I would too if I made the money they did :)

I miss his show, tho. Never knew what stupid things would fly out of his mouth :worried:

I was never big on Tony myself back in the day and I am pretty sure I have said that on here before. I am a fan now over the past couple years I have become one. Tony can drive the wheels off anything and you have to respect him for that if nothing else. I really miss his show as well, it was always fun to listen to.
