I've spent so much time in station creation mode, or listening to stations made by others that I seldom listen to Slacker created stations! I will listen to those more eventually.

I don't have a Slacker device, these are my favorites I listen to online...

1. Aaron's Flower Power Radio - featuring pop music from the late 1960's
2. Aaron's New Orleans Radio
3. Aaron's British Invasion
4. Romantic '70s - created by DAB
5. Bitte Ein Bit - 1980's music station created by tomcdman
6. The Bridge - created by me
7. Movin' Easy - created by me
8. '80s Alternative - Slacker
9. Aaron's Philly Soul
10. Broken Heart Radio - Slacker

Today's Hits (S) ( Keep up to date on current hits)
2k Throw Down (Playing 2000 to Current)
'90s Eruption (Playing 90 to 99)
'80s Explosion (Playing 80 to 89)
'70s Jukebox (Playing 70 to 79
Romance '70s ( Love Songs Specifically)
American Bandstand ('60s - '80s)
Moving EZ (Aaron's version with a DAB tweak)
Broken Heart (S)
Country Love(S)
New Country(S) (Keep up to date with new hits)
Country Blend ('50s to '90s) I had these separate, but found I like the huge BLEND)
Country Christian (Christan Music by Country Entertainers)
Southern Gospel (True Southern Gospel and Bluegrass)
Spirit Message(From classic to current CCM)
AudioSerenity Spa (Meditate, Sleep)
New Age Ambient ( Just a great new age channel with less down tempo music)
Sweet Cajun Zydeco (Don't mess with my Toot Toot)
Chill (non-voc) (S) (About as much electronic as I can get into)

(S) denotes a Slacker Professional Station)

Out of the 20 Stations, I created 15 of them and the reason is because I wanted to hear what I wanted to hear and not a bunch of artist or songs that I didn't. All of my stations are a ongoing work. Prime example is just like I got turned on to Liquid Mind, WOW such great Meditation Spa Music, so naturally they were added. Recent chart toppers were added to my 2K Throw Down station, as well as new music to my Country Christian station. I really enjoy the creating and then listening of the stations. I have to say I've blown myself a way. My decades stations are TRUE decade channels from Pop, Rock, Country, R&B/Funk, to HipHop (I love that, not everyone does, some want their Rock separate from their R&B. But I'd rather have a huge channel in a given decade that plays for hours and hours never knowing what is going to play based on what I LIKED and/or LOVED about the decade.

I have also create other Stations like The Office (which is sort of a Moving EZ Station) Mellow Rock and Beautiful Music. Some of which I listen to via my iPod Touch, but I have rotated off my G2 for right now.

In my custom stations folder:
Swing Out Sister
smooth and acoustic jazz

Suzanne's Cafe
all soft female artists

CoffeeBreak
my Coffeehouse/Watercolors mimic.

LivingWater
early 70's soft artists, a little Christian based

60's Girl Talk
all female sixties

RadiioU
European artists

Saturday Night Dance

I have a tendency to request a lot of songs on my channels and fine tune favorites to maximum. I also have a Jimmy Buffet channel

I will load these onto my G2 along with Today's Hits and of course selections from Slacker Spotlight. Although we may all have different musical tastes, I like how everyone is making the most of the channel creation options.

Yeah, many of my channels especially my decades channels are ALL specifically selected songs. I have one of them with almost 400 songs in it. I think it is the 80s one. Favorites set to max and away we go.

Looks like you've got some sweet channels created!

This stuff is so much fun, I have learned a lot about artist and when music was released. I was surprise as some things I thought had been released longer ago, but not always so.

I have had to realize that not everyone is into this station creation stuff, but reviewing top 40 and even top 100 yearly charts I have found very interesting.

Not quite the "slacker" mentality, but a pretty cool idea. I didn't even know it wouldn't play other songs if you set favorites to max.

Yeah, but not all of us are TOTAL SLACKERS! LOL

I have found on the G2 or G1 that when you have your station set to max favorites, that all it loads are the favorites. Occasionally when listening via the web or iPod Touch it will throw in one that isn't in your list, but generally it might should be. However when those stray cats pop up I ban them. Usually after a couple of bans it sticks to the favorites. I mean if you have 400 favorites it has enough there that it really doesn't need to pull any other music.

I might have to try that sometime. Make my own little station with just songs that I like. I like enough different music it shouldn't be hard coming up with 200-300 songs that I like, and the only part that would be kind of tedious is entering all the song names.

You've got me curious to see how it works now :).

You've got me addicted to doing this with my favorite music now... it kinda gives me the feeling of being the DJ... I'm up to over 200 combined hearts and bans (the bans, probably about five total being mostly that one of my favorite bands had a pretty significant lineup change over their history, everything after it I like, everything before it I HATE... and these are the songs it loves to plug in as the few "off list' songs)

Only problem now is I don't have time to do much else, totally negating the point of being a Slacker :eek:mfg:

I have to tell you I've gone 5 days without saving a single song or artist in any of my Slacker stations!

Just had a nice listen to the Soft Hits station on Slacker, reminded me a lot of the old 'Blend' on XM. Had songs you would hear on any FM Radio lite rock station, and songs you wouldn't dream of hearing on stations like that, but still fit the format. And I could ban the ones I didn't like (Counting Crows covering Joni Mitchell - see ya! Celine Dion - buh-bye!) so that made it more listenable. Not bad overall. Definitely added to the favorites.

Yeah, many of my channels especially my decades channels are ALL specifically selected songs.

This is the main reason to upgrade to the paid service if you ask me! :smug: Then you have unlimited requests with unlimited skips so its possible (with some time/effort) to make a nearly perfect playlist. I've recently started doing more requests in an effort to fine tune my stations and the results have been pretty good. Unfortunately Slacker.com is banned by the IT department here at work so I can only tweak from home... major bummer.

This is my main list:
Club Hits+
Electronic Hits+
80s Hits+
Boombox*
Backspin*
First Wave*
Freestyle^
Dance1^

* indicates clones of Sirius stations.
+ indicates Slacker programmed stations.
^ are my custom stations
