Dig a your hole a little deeper RIAA.

I used to buy at least 10 CD's a month 10-15 years back. Now that the RIAA is the music gestapo, I only buy direct from artists. It's sad , there are many CD's I would like to buy, I can't support the industry anymore.

If my music service fees go up due to RIAA, count me out. Its back to "alternative" sources...

My understanding is that Slacker already has a deal in place, so this should not impact them. Now how long their deal is for, I have no idea.

Here is the announcement from Slackers web site where they announced an agreement with the record labels. It was done on Sept 20, 2007. Slacker Personal Radio - Press Releases

Here is the just of the announcement:
Slacker Finalizes Deals With Major Labels

Slacker Announces Agreements With EMI Music, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group to Extend Personal Radio Experience

SAN DIEGO, Calif. September 20, 2007 Slacker, Inc. today announced agreements with the major labels EMI Music, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group to make the labels content available to listeners on the Slacker Personal Radio service. Slacker, which previously announced a similar agreement with SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT, now has agreements with all four major labels that enable listeners to choose from a vast catalog of artists to play on their personal radio stations wherever they are.
Including extensive digital music catalogs from EMI Music, SONY BMG, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group will give Slacker listeners access to a deep catalog of music to create personalized stations based on genre or favorite artists. As part of the agreement, Slacker listeners can transfer their personalized stations to Slacker Portable Players with a single click and automatically refresh them via Wi-Fi or over USB.

Then there is this announcement:

I think slacker is going direct to the lables and bypassing the RIAA

Yeah that is the only way to go for larger companies (directly to the labels), which is what Sirius and XM did as well! But if you don't get a deal, they RIAA will indeed come after you. They sued XM over the Pioneer Inno, but eventually they did settle it with the labels and once this happened the RIAA dropped their suit.
