Michael Jackson tributes, 25's bizzalsack, 25's wang.

Where the hell are Richard and Sal when you need them? They'd be going crazy for all the gay.

This Ned bit "the king of pop is in a box tonight" is actually pretty good.

Now we're ready for the "one o'clock commerical hour" but i'll take it. They went long several times today.

I turned off Bubba today. I'm not sure what's changed, but Bubba 2009 is nothing like Bubba 2007. They sound different, act different and it's just not riveting anymore.

It seems like they play extended bits and ned songs after every commercial. I still like the show. I just get tired of the same old bits and songs played over and over. Oh well. I guess I have to take what I can get.

I think part of it is Sirius. Anyone remember when they couldn't shock, zap, liquid ass, or otherwise "torture?" About a year later, they brought back "Shock The Puss."

I think that's what the show is missing. People bitch because it's more of a "bubba raw thing", but that WAS the show back in 2007.

Oh well, there's about 80 or so Fridays left (i'm guessing) after you take out holidays. We're 25% or so through this current contract. If i'm Bubba, i'm trying like CRAZY to go back to Sirius for more than 4 hours a week.

With Sirius, you're not asking the fans to buy new equipment, as they already have what they need. It's a national, uncensored platform. And, if they need to do some stuff off-air, there's always another platform.

What Ehilbert1 said above represents my feelings. After 2007 or so, they started to play a LOT of extended bit segments. The 10 minute intro was annoying as hell as well.

I was on holidays and missed this Friday's show. Though I must say the last couple have been sub-par in my opinion. I still listen to the live Friday show because for a while there it was still the same as their old daily Sirus show. It hasn't been lately. Hopefully its just a rut and they'll be back to top form soon. Its still the only decent thing on on Fridays so I'm sure I'll still tune in.
Too bad Sirius screwed those guys. Bubba was great in the afternoons. Maybe they'll get a better deal next time around....

The best was a couple weeks ago on a Friday when they came back from commerical played a ned bit and went RIGHT BACK to commericals. Didn't hear a word from anyone.

I'm wondering if their bathroom situation has anything to do with it. Since it's a small operation down there, they may not have a large bathroom. Bubba recently got a port-a-potty for the "guys in the back", and apparently the main bathroom is only for the studio guys, and maybe a few select others.

Anyway, if there's only one bathroom and 5 guys need to use it during a break... it doesn't look good for people who don't like the long bits.

When I stopped listening was when they started playing 2-3 bits in sequence to end the show. The bits are funny, but it was clear that they were doing it in protest over Sirius not giving them a contract. They ran off listeners to piss off corporate.

But...was it during the last hour? They have to do two breaks per hour. IIRC, it's always been like that. Since Bubba doesn't like to do commercial breaks during guest interviews, he'll run long between 10 AM and noon.

Obviously, this puts him behind schedule.

It seems like he has two options:
1) A commercial break every 20-25 minutes
Or
2) Run long, and maybe do one break between 10 and 11, maybe two breaks between 11 and 12, and then three breaks between 12:30 and 1:15.

He has to run the breaks. Yeah, it sucks, but the early part of the show is where it pays off.

Yes it was in the last hour actually and I can understand and apperciate that they need to get those commericals in at some point. Then why come back from break at all? The bit or song was about 3-4 mins. Why not run straight commericals then get back to the show?

Maybe there's some language in the contract?

This happens on the terrestrial show, as well. Just yesterday, in fact, after the 911 call stuff at the end of the show.

you're not the only one. I find myself listening to bubba less and less. he's been going downhill ever since the new deal. I would have thought they'd be energized with only having to do one show, but in fact, they have been worse than ever. and the friday shows have been bad more often than not with an abundance of bubba raw material.

WAY WAY WAY too much hogan (I can't stress this enough)
too many bad interviews (stop ass kissing bubba)
too much local florida talk
too much local dj fueding
too much racing talk
too much pandering the friday show to bubba raw subscribers (2 1/2 hour segments with a stripper are not needed for your only uncensored show of the week over the RADIO!)

I say put all that sh*t on the who gives a sh*t channel.

I gotta agree with just about all of this (except the racing talk ;) ) ESPECIALLY the Hogan part. I understand the local Florida BS'ing because they're doing the show for Florida and we're just hearing the repeat. it still sucks but I can at least understand that (Though I change the channel).

Its unfortunate because its not really Bubba's doing. Sirius gave him a raw deal and now we're stuck with the morning show. Which sucks.

I'm past it now though. I'll still listen Fridays, they're hit and miss so I give it a shot. But I, like a lot of you have moved on to Jason Ellis for my 3pm radio fix. I got right into him only a week or so ago when he was on Stern but I think I'm hooked.
It's too bad about Bubba...

I'm not mad at Bubba at all. I think anyone who IS mad at Bubba needs to re-examine the situation.

The Hogan stuff...yeah, they're bestest buddies, and Hogan did have more than one situation over the past year (Nick's car crash, the divorce, anything else?) Of course, he's going to want to talk about that. Every day does get a bit tiring, but I know it'll pass. If I start complaining about that, then it'll be something else to complain about in a few months.

Back in the 80's, Howard would actually play full songs during his shows. Some people complained when he went to the "all talk" format. People complained when Billy West left. People complained when Jackie left.

I'm sure there's people that complain about Jason Ellis something-or-other.

The racing stuff is cool. Actually, because of his show, i've developed an understanding for racing and truck driving. (I'm not saying i'm a racing fan, but I do appreciate the mental fortitude it takes to drive a car over 200 MPH in close quarters with other cars. I'm sure it's not easy.)

Sirius did give Bubba a raw deal. We're over 25% of the way through the deal, if you go by calendar weeks, and maybe much more if you only count Fridays he's live.

Can anyone say "Ellis moves to 100/101 when Howard retires?" Bubba mornings, Ellis in the afternoon, Ferrall at night. Master Tape Theatre (and other Howard stuff) on the weekends, along with replays. Having Howard "drop in" from time to time would be nice, but I think if the fans expect him live, then they expect a schedule, which I feel less confident in trying to predict.

Ellis moving over to the Howard family would be nice. It would also allow for more music on Faction, which certainly wouldn't be a bad idea. OR.... Ellis goes live after Bubba with a replay on Faction in the regular time. (AKA, what Sirius should have done with Bubba...stick him live on another channel, with a replay where the regular fans expect.)

Right. And need to wash the sand out of their vaginas.

We're seven months into this thing, it's time for people to move on.

I don't think there's much sense in keeping the Howard branding on the channels without Howard. I understand it from a marketing standpoint, but it is sort of misleading if Howard isn't doing a live show regularly.

But the problem is that Ellis has not only become synonymous with the Faction brand, but moving him to a premium channel would force some of his listeners to pay extra to hear him. Like when the rumors of him moving to the Virus were springing up, imagine how pissed off hardcore Sirius fans would be.

Exactly, but they didn't get it right the first time, don't expect them to get it right the next time. :jj:

Definitely agree with this. Faction is the "extreme sport" channel, and Ellis talks a lot about that stuff. As for Bubba, I really feel Sirius screwed him. Ellis' show wouldn't be nearly as funny if he was censored. Bubba and crew don't lack talent, they're just being restrained. After hearing how good they can be, it makes it tough to listen to the terrestrial show.
