What the heck is going on?

It's certainly not as good as it once was, but now it's back up to 70 cents. It was actually at 78 cents today.

On Feb 11th, it was at 5 cents.
May 6th, it was at 52 cents.

For a long, long time it seemed to be around 45-55 cents.

Is it the iPod announcement?
Is Mel doing something...right? *knock on wood*

Yeah, I know it was higher than $5 or $10 at one point, but this IS good news.

This is the funniest topic post I've ever seen on this site.

Here's a thread on one of the forums I belong to that isn't tech related. Just honest opinions. I didn't post on this thread cause I don't like the member that started it.

Look at how many people pay for water or TV. Walk into any grocery store, and there's at least 15 different kinds of bottled water.

You can get movies on basic cable (TNT, USA, etc.) You can get sports on broadcast TV.

People WILL pay for audio entertainment, if the selection is what they want, and they have the money to spend.

You're right, we'll always pay for quality entertainment.

From a stock investment viewpoint SIRI is a penny, junk stock, that in any other time and world have been delisted last year (and would still be delisted).

I think of the millions of common stock holders, many subscribers, that should be holding at least a $3-6 stock right now. Where's the money? Squandered, wasted, stolen? There's plenty information out there already on this topic.

Liquidity's coming into the stock market as retail investors gain confidence the economy has bottomed and move out of the dollar. The overall market is rising and SIRI is benefiting. I'm sure the short bets are being layed down as I type.

No offense. I just meant this thread was funny in the way winning the lottery and then having one of those commercial jet blue waste bricks fall out of the sky and kill you. Only funny if it didn't happen to you. :daz:

I blame it on cash for clunkers. Think of all the new subs they are getting. But then what happens when the program ends and people dont keep their subscriptions? Its a temporary bounce.

Retention of car sub trials is around 50-55%. No reason to assume these subs would be any different.

I think the demographic of the people using cash for clunkers doesnt match those of usual buyers. I would suspect a larger churn rate.

Yeah.

If you're trading in a 1985 minivan that gets 10MPG, you probably aren't going to pay for radio anyway.

You might be surprised!! A lot of people have never had Sirius or XM and now that they just bought a NEW car, they get to try it for 3 months for free. Going back to commercial FM (and those endless ADS) after enjoying months of commercial-free music will no doubt add subscribers.

Hopefully. Time will tell.

11 days later and as of right now it has dropped down to 67 cents/share.

Yeah. Maybe I jinxed it. (I'm sure I didn't though.)

The various stock markets are on a wild ride, as of late. Sure, they're up from earlier this year, but not back to where they once were.

Let's see what happens with this new Apple dock. If Sirius can continue to shift away from their "get a new car, get Sirius XM" mindset, hopefully this thing will grow.

I think we can all agree that the situation IS better. I haven't seen any "Sirius won't make it past Jan/Feb/end of month" posts in a long time.
