I'm still not satisfied with the Hip-Hop and R&B on Sirius/XM. I am glad that Backspin is now back on the air, but why is that there are still no DJ's on during the day????? (At least the times I am listening to the station) And how many times can they keep saying that Planet Rock is coming to the station?
It really seems like they (Sirius/XM) do not care about Hip-Hop or R&B at all. The Heat is so close to an FM station it is absurd. Heart and Soul plays The Commodores one minute, followed by Musiq Soulchild the next. Those are two completely different genres of R&B. SoulTown is trying to play 30+ years of music on one station. And why the h*@# is the Groove not on Sirius?!?!
Hip Hop Nation and Shade 45 are overtaxed trying to play 20+ years of Hip-Hop on two stations. To put this in comparison, There are four channels dedicated to classic rock (Classic Vinyl, Classic Rewind, Deep Tracks, and Adult Spectrum).
I guess what makes the whole situation worse is that there really is no other alternative. I have checked into Slacker and Pandora, but they don't offer DJ's and the sports and news.
I always felt the merger was a bad idea because competition usually creates a better product. Now that there is really no competition, Sirius/XM can basically do whatever they want to, and we can either subscribe to it, or cancel.
I know this post is covering several topics, but I've been waiting to see what Sirius/XM was going to do after all the merger/bankruptcy talks settled. To say the least, I am not seeing anything that would make me want to keep subscribing to sub-par service.
