Hopefully people that have SIR Premium and a Stiletto can provide feedback.

As it sits I have a customer with a Stiletto 2 and they have bought SIR Premium so they can get better WiFi streaming quality. They activated the service, and it isn't Premium. We had Sirius 'fix' the Premium tag on the account, same problem. We switched out the Stiletto 2, same problem.

I contacted Sirius myself today. Supposedly we all get premium streaming now with our Stiletto units on WiFi and we don't need to pay any extra (due to the changing of the way streaming is done a few months ago). It no longer shows Premium on the bottom of the screen either supposedly.

Has anyone noticed if this is true? I don't use WiFi streaming a lot (since my radio is either in the car or the home dock), but there are also some better-eared individuals who know where to look for the difference between 32 and 128kbit streaming. I also don't have SIR Premium on my account.

Thanks in advance.

Premium internet streaming has nothing to do with the stiletto. Two SL2 users with sirius accounts, one having premium and one not having premium will see no difference between either stiletto. Premium streaming is only for people listening to it through their computer on the internet. If your customer is having some signal issues or buffering issues I would suggest a device recovery. Also see how fast their WIFI connection is in their home by testing it with a laptop or desktop that has WIFI. Again, premium means nothing to a stiletto user or how sirius streams sat radio to a stiletto.

I believe you're wrong on this one Matt.

In the past if you had a SIR Premium account attached to the device, the Stiletto said Premium instead of Internet and you received the 128k stream. This was a perk for having SIR Premium.

By the way, the customer has FIOS. I doubt he has a bandwidth problem.

EDIT: By the way, please see Page 3 of
http://www.tss-radio.com/images/WiFi_troubleshooting_guide.pdf

1. Q: What is SIRIUS Internet Radio mode?
A: SIRIUS Internet Radio mode, or SIR allows the user to listen to streaming SIRIUS
Internet Radio programming by connecting to a wireless (Wi-Fi) network. Users
subscribing to Premium SIR can enjoy CD-quality (128kbps) music.

My SL2 still says Internet Premium. I have one Sirius Radio and SL2 which was attached to premium streaming when I set it up. I believe theyre is a place where the radio id is attached to the premium internet. If this is not the SL2, the SL2 will not pick it up.

If we receive it free, why do they keep charging me $2.99/mo?

You're paying 2.99 for premium on the computer supposedly and Stiletto units all gets 128kbit now. That's what Tech told me, they then removed the Premium access from the account (something I didn't ask them to do, but).

It is interesting to me that yours says Premium on the screen though. That's definitely a difference. This guy has never seen Premium on the screen, even when he had Premium on his account. We've also traded out his SL2 once already.

I haven't checked in the last couple days, I will check again tonight and report back.

I may have to reconsider this then if this is true. I don't necessarly need the premium on my computer if I can get it on my SL2 for free.

The Boss man e-mailed Sirius about this to find out if they will have the same answer. I will post back if/when I hear something too. If Sirius offers SIR Premium for free with the SL2, this would be rather customer friendly. :)

Which tends to make me think it is false. :) If its true, they should be really pushing this as a feature of the SL2 and another reason to buy one.

People used to be able to call SIRIUS and pay extra to get Premium SIR onto their Stilettos. You would be able to get the Premium automatically online but if you wanted it on a Stiletto you could get it and have it associated to the SID of the Stiletto, so Droo is def right.

The premium feed has always been $2.99 per month for the Stiletto's. The free WiFi streaming on the Stiletto is for the low bit rate feed only. When Sirius/XM went to the pay service for the internet, they did say that owners of Stilettos would get the low bit for "free" as long as the unit was active.

I was under that impression too, Willie.

I guess the big question is why I can't activate this customer on Premium with him paying and get it through the Stiletto now. They've made it pretty clear that they will cancel the service if they cannot get the Premium stream. They're more than willing to pay the 2.99 but we've tried 2 SL2s so far and had no success.

I know that premium will show up on a stiletto, but my original answer to this post was only because during my last activation of an SL2 for use here in our office, I asked for premium and the retail service rep told me that since they started charging 2.99 for internet premium they decided to bump all stiletto users up to 128k. He explained that the 2.99 is for internet use through a computer. I suppose I could be wrong and should know better than to trust what a service rep tells me. I had discussed my answer with a co-worker before I posted but now looking back I am probably wrong. Sorry about the confusion and thanks for your input.

Silly Matt. Believe what a CSR told him. :)

Yeah, I should have known better.

drdroo, have you thought about a device recovery? The unit may have something corrupt in the software. I wouldn't rule it out.

Tried it with at least one of the units, but haven't with the second. I really believe that it's on Sirius's end.

You'll see it on the way in through returns if not.. :D We'll see what Taylor finds out, if anything though. Kinda figures, the guy wants to give Sirius more money and they're making it hard on him.

I just recently upgraded from a Stiletto 100 to a Stiletto 2 and I am having the same issue. On my Stiletto 100 it had internet premium at the bottom but now it just says internet. I can tell the difference of quality between the both of them as well.

I called CS and they pretty much said the same thing they have told all of you. If anyone finds out an answer, please let me know! I use my SL2 at work using our WIFI network and the noticeable quality difference is getting quite annoying.

Mine definitly says "Internet Premium" and it definatly is (sounds better than the SAT).

I had an SL2 with a working Internet Premium Feed ( I pay 2.99/mo), and it got stolen, and now the replacement SL2 only shows Internet. So obviously, they are having a problem adding people/radios to the premium feeds.
