Hey all

I received emails from both XM and Sirius with the subject "Something big is coming" and a pretty blue HTML screen that says "Next Week Find Out Why XM [or Sirius] Makes More Sense Than Ever". Then next to the company logo at the bottom it says "One Week Sales Event | 3 Deals * 3 Ways to Listen". Finally, it has an opt out at the bottom.

Anybody know what this is? Price blowout on old receivers so they can start pushing just the new ones? Just an alternate way to hawk the price increase to web streaming by offering lock-ins now? Some kind of tie-in deals with DirecTV? Couldn't possibly be any programming changes considering the headlines.

I'm expecting this all to be just corporate hype that won't really amount to anything exciting but at least we don't have to wait long :)

Haven't gotten it yet, but it looks like they are finally beginning to become proactive again.
For the longest time, they haven't seemed to try to generate any excitement.

Maybe they're going to start offering a bundle package with Directv with the Liberty connection? Guess we'll just have to find out next week.

Yeah, I got the e-mail too, and I have no idea. But, judging by the 3 deals, 3 ways to listen thing, I'm guessing they're changing pricing packages, or they're have a big sale on radios or something. Either way, I'm

Would it be safe to say it has something to do with the upcoming price increases?

Prolly raising our rates again or cutting back content and then putting some kind of positive spin on it.

I got an email a few days ago saying I could lock in the 6.99 rate for a second sub if I bought a radio.

With a need for a new receiver or two I'm expecting the old ones will be priced to go with a red clearance tag. Ditto accessories. Another approach is a package deal tid into the 3-11 price change.

Going off on a tangent would somebody be tempted with a $50 rebate on a receiver if they buy a one year sub with the best of the other service?

I wonder if the ads will be like this one? Portable Sirius Radio, Satellite Radio Car Kit, Sirius Satellite Radio System

Wonder what the catch is for the free online listening?

The shopping page for subscribers has 60% off the usual models with a lock in before 3-11 and save banner.

Three speculations on the "3 ways to listen":

1) A iPhone app is coming. So, that would be "Satellite, online and iPhone".

2) Finally able to get SIRIUS & XM radios on either plan (i.e., cross band family radio plans). So, "SIRIUS, XM, or SIRIUS+XM."

3) Nothing. It's all hype.
