Other users have reported the initial load of your music to take a very long time. Like well over 1 hour - maybe even 2 plus. Future refreshes after the initial time are much faster.

It all depends on how many channels you've selected to add to the Slacker G2 initially. But I can tell you that once you do this future updates are much, much shorter.

I've never done by via the USB, so I am not sure if it has an indicator like the Wifi version does. But it will show you the status of each channel as it updates. Does anyone know if it also does this when refreshing via USB?

The status screen is the same using USB as it is using WiFi. I've updated my Slacker using both methods and I haven't noticed a difference in the time it takes to update.

Thank you, I wondered as I had never used the USB method, but you really helped with rather their was any difference in refreshing via USB or Wifi in terms of speed. :)

Some users have expressed the initial load to be rough around the edges via usb connection. Have suggested wifi is very clean on the intial music load, but the usb works better once you get beyond the first music load up.

The time to refresh is almost exactly the same for me at both work and home with both USB and Wi-Fi Refresh.

I personally use Wi-Fi most of the time because I can still use it while it's charging/refreshing. With USB you can't use it while it's plugged in.

Honestly, I think everyone has been "Trained" to plug things in via USB by all of the other MP3 players. People just think that USB is better, even though in our case it's the same as Wi-Fi.

I have been a Wi-Fi refresher from the start. I think it's great and so easy. I edit my stations. Recharge and my new settings are ready to go.

I finally did it last night just to try it out. My issue with it is that basically you can't do anything with the device while it is refreshing. I think I'll stick to my wifi updates at least I can continue to listen to it while it refreshes.

But you are correct in that either way you do it, you make changes and they are ready to go. Though sometimes you have to actually listen to a channel before some newer artist or and or if you go from less hits or to more hits to actually be refreshed onto the device.

Two questions.

1) What G2 did you get the larger or smaller one? Do you need the larger one.

2) I notice that on my station it stats with the same songs (not in the same order) when I start it up. Is that normal?

I tried to edit my station and I get an error, anyone else having issues?

I went with the 4gb 25 stations. I mean I can't imagine using more than that. But in reality it will be more like 10 or 15. Which will leave plenty of extra space for your channels to get bigger over time.

I have found that is you have songs favorited it does tend to do this. I am toying with the fine tuning settings now to see if I can change this. I noticed there is a place where you can have it play favorites at maximum or minimum level. I am trying the mini level now and see if that helps with this situation.

In terms of editing stations, I did some late last no issues. I haven't done any today.

I had an idea today so I thought I would try it.

Took my laptop and my Sprint Mobil Broadband Card, hooked my laptop to the audio in on my Camry and I have Slacker in my car.

Sounds pretty good, but I get feedback when I hook my car charger up to my laptop, so I guess I will have to run it off the battery when I am listening, and then charge it while I am listening to Sirius.

My mom and I each got a G1 from woot.

She has no wifi, and getting USB going was a pain since the G1 and her DSL modem both wanted to use the same IP address, and then her computer wouldn't see the router at its new address. Finally got it going...

Mine works on my wifi OK, which is amazing since my iPod and Wii both hate my antique Dell router.

It's been slow going for me, but considering it's adding 1.5 GB or so to it, it's no slower than when I DL 1.5GB game demos on my PS3, since my ISP establishes new levels of lameness regularly. Takes a little over a half hour to add one new channels' inital load.
