Theory
I bought this radio on EBay to replace my radio, which I broke. It already had an active subscription, but was not getting updates and has a battery drain problem. I saw that one of the upgrades to the firmware fixed the problem with the battery. I tried to update it by having it on the WiFi connection for a day. That didn't help. So I have resorted to the recovery procedure. I have a feeling that the radio may be either so old or the code was somehow hacked. Just a theory.
