I have a SL100 that works great except when it is in a car dock all I get is "aquiring signal". I can play recorded music through the car dock and it works. I have 2 car docks and it does it in both of them. Any advise would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Means the signal level from the antenna is low... if the antenna isn't connected at all, you'd get "No Antenna Detected".

Could be from several sources: poor antenna location, bad connection between the antenna and the dock or between the SL100 and the dock, or bad antenna. Or, you could be parked under a bunch of trees :)

Wasn't sure whether you were talking about two different installations with two different docks and antennas, or one installation that you've tried two docks in. If the latter, look harder at the antenna installation, try a new antenna, check the connector on the SL100 & make sure it's seating all the way in the dock.

It is possible for the dock to cause that too (two docks, in your case) , but I'd try the easier/cheaper fixes first.

I agree w/ John and had one more thought.

Not sure how you record content, but if you have a home dock or boombox, you can test your car docks using that antenna to save you having to buy a new one simply for testing.

I get this too from time to time with mine and I have to jiggle the dock and it comes back, it's really weird. I would check the antenna line, one lil crimp someone will cause no signal.

My SL100 had a whole slew of problems working in the car dock from the very beginning. Sometimes it would not recognize that it was in the dock. The lights on the dock button would not light up and I would get the "acquiring signal" message.

Usually a full reboot (holding power button down for 7 seconds) while in the dock was what was needed.

Frustrated

It use to work fine then all the sudden I start getting "aquiring signal". I called support and they made comments about the att.. I went out and bought a brand new dock and still getting the same thing. I can still play recorded music through the dock. The satellite works with the headphones and my home dock just not in the car. I have tried several different locations still having the same results..

I just moved to Florida from Des Moines, IA 2 weeks ago and all of a sudden I can no longer get a signal from my SL100. When it is out of the car dock it works fine. When it is in the car dock it say either antenna not detected or acquiring signal.

I very rarely take the unit out of the cradle and never had a problem before. Nothing has changed and now I am totally stumped as to what is going on.

Any suggestions on how to remedy this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Evan

Maybe it's your antenna placement. Moving from the center of the country to the edge might have something to do with it...:right:

Try putting your antenna in a different place...:)

edit: You might have lived near a repeater and that might have allowed you to always have a good signal in Des Moines. If you live out in the country now, you might not get a repeater signal. Go to a big city and check it out...:)

Good Luck and Welcome...:D

I wish that was the case. I have an SL10 in my wife's car that has no problems what so ever with the move. She rarely takes her unit out of the car dock. So I can not see how the placement of the antenna could affect the receptions stating that "Antenna not detected" or "Acquiring signal".

Have you put your Stiletto in her car dock? Just a thought...:)

I have tried both units in the other's car dock. Her's works in mine, but mine does not work in hers.

That's not good. You might have a bad radio, or a bad dock if her radio doesn't work in your dock.

Docks go bad. I had a bad home dock, before. I don't use my Stiletto anymore.

Gee, thanks:( Is there a way to reset the device and see if that works to recorrect the problem? It seems like that this started to occur after the last update and download of channels and has just progressivly gotten worse.

OK, this might be a dumb question, but did you hook up your new car dock to the old antenna? I had a similar problem and I replaced the antenna and it worked fine. If you have a home dock, you can try attaching the home antenna to the car dock and see if you get reception (not while driving of course).
