Noticed there was no official tread keeping up on the iPhone/Apple related Sirius/XM news.

I will start off with this link:
SiriusXM Radio comes to iPhone | 9 to 5 Mac

With "Doctor Radio" being available as an individual app on the iTunes store. I found this surprising, and I wonder if they will make the channels individual apps...

So they're making each individual channel available as an app, for free? The same channels the subscribers pay for all of them?

The Reach MD app has been out for a long time now. Reach MD is a third-party programmed channel. It would be the same as if you saw a channel app for Fox News Talk.

What is to stop Sirius from doing the same thing with their channels. Howard 100/101 on an app for free? The Virus for free? I call :bs:until it happens. But it's very plausible.

It would be a rather pointless move. Why release 150 apps when you can just release 1? Clear Channel doesn't have an app for each of their stations.

An app for each channel would probably be the best. If someone doesn't want to download Howard, they shouldn't have to.

Charge a monthly fee based on each channel.

One music channel might cost 50 cents or 1 dollar per month, with bulk discounts given.

A "premium channel" such as Howard might cost $5 or $8 a month, but you'd get both 100 and 101.

You're calling BS on your own statement? :idunno:

I agree

Looks like the iPhone gained a few pounds. Unless that's a stretched image.

Looks like a pretty basic application for the iPhone. Hopefully we can piggy back off of our existing SIR Premium subscriptions, and the device won't require a unique subscription.

I'm wondering if the low bitrate "freebie" stream will work on the iPhone. My guess is that it will not.

P.S. What's up with the little shopping cart in the screen shot? Link to iTunes?

It should work. The low bit rates (32k) on Shoutcast sound ok.

"Should" work, and Sirius/XM allowing it to work are different things. I hope you're right!!!!!

I didn't think about that. I'm sure they won't let it work. I'm glad I have a lifetimed subscription and I'm glad I still have free streaming. What I'm wondering is if us lifetimers are screwed for all future things like the Iphone App or a new Stilleto. Will they make you have a premium account to use those via wifi???
