In a previous post I linked to a new Holiday Advertising Campaign for Sirius XM Radio. If you have not seen the new commercial you can view it below or you could just turn on your TV since Sirius XM has been running the 30 Second spot continuously for the past 3 weeks.

I also gave the video praise and thought it was well put together. It now appears that Sirius XM is on the right track for a strong finish to the year because of it. According to an article on Reuters, Holiday sales of Sirius XM Radio’s satellite radio players are so far matching expectations, helped in part by an advertising blitz featuring footage of Elvis Presley and Michael Jordan.

Mel Karmazin told Reuters that early retail store checks indicated that sales “were very much on target to what we anticipated” since the U.S. holiday shopping season unofficially kicked off on Friday. Karmazin partly credited the company’s new ad campaign with drawing consumers, since “we didn’t have any new revolutionary products out.”

Although he would not mention any amount spent on the new campaign he was quoted as saying “a lot of millions of dollars.”

In the past Sirius XM has been lacking in the Advertising department especially during the holiday season. To me it always seemed like they have relied on word of mouth as their main source of getting the product out there. If this new campaign really works getting new subscribers I expect to see more campaigns like this in the future.

With a strong Holiday sales push and a strong start to the new year we may even see Sirius XM’s stock price reach $1.00 by next year.

I know a few people commented on the new video in the forums and I would love to hear your thoughts again now that we have some positive news regarding this new Advertising Campaign.

I hope all these heaps of praise ends up being true. It would be nice to see Sirius actually add a lot of new subs in the 4th quarter. It has been a rough year, but I see them headed down the right road. Still changes to come that will be rocky, but not for a long while yet.

I agree DAB. The year has been pretty rough but I believe Sirius XM has already surpassed expectations. It was only a few months ago that everyone was talking bankruptcy, that now seems like a thing of the past.

I guess we wont know how things are really going until the next earnings report.
