I'm terribly sorry if this has been posted already....

I am a long time sirius sub. Just got a new car that has XM built in. With the current "best of" packages, they're basically one in the same with regards to services (or at least what I typically listen to (sports, stern, etc.)).

My sirius yearly sub ends in Sept. My new car has a 3 month demo of XM. I really don't want all the wires from the sirius portable (SL100) running all over my new car considering the XM is built in.

SO....

Has anyone swapped services...is it just 1 call and they terminate my sirius and activate my xm with the same account number, logon, etc. OR Is it 2 calls (one to Sirius to cancel and one to XM to activate).

Anyone gone through this process that can provide info would be swell. I really don't want to have dual subs when I only really have need for 1 sub/1 unit.

Thanks!

Cancel your Sirius via a call to the CSR. Tell them what you are doing and that should stop the 'offers' to retain you. You may be able to subscribe to XM via the internet although because it is a car trial you may have to call them. They will just start your billing upon completion of your 3 free months.

Two calls. They are still separate services at this point.

Ok, thanks Limegrass!

Didn't know if they merged their accounting yet. Just "synergies" within their music, etc.

I feel like i'm bailing on my Sirius roots.

At least they're all under the same umbrella now...and the "I'm a Sirius guy vs. I'm an XM guy" days are over. I liked being one of the Sirius guys from way back when...pre-Stern....well before he was even thought of on those terms. ;)

Don't sweat it, it's all family now. I have both services, and have the best of both worlds. Welcome to the XM side, you're going to love it.
