I am thinking of getting a lifetime subscription with my Starmate 5. I know before last March, they were offering lifetime subscriptions with lifetime online access attached to the radio as well. I couldn't afford it at the time, but am considering the lifetime option now. I realize that techically this isn't done anymore and the offer has essentially expired, but is there ANY chance you can persuade a sales rep now to throw in the lifetime online feed like before? I wouldn't necessarily need the 128kbs stream & take the 32kbs version if needed. Just wondering if anyone else might of had luck with this?

I don't think so. All lifetime subscriptions prior to the end of March includes free 32kbps access, any subscription after that, you have to pay $2.99/month.

It's definitely worth a shot, though.

Good luck with that. Something tells me you won't get that. The phone reps have not been as "accommodating" with waiving fees and such lately. But, hey...you never know. Give it a shot.

I have lifetime on a Stiletto 100. Got it in 2007, so it includes 32k streaming.

If I add a Stiletto 2 lifetime, THAT radio won't have online, but it shouldn't matter since my primary radio already has free lifetime streaming, right? Just want to make sure before I activate another lifetime and potentially lose free streaming.

I'm almost certain the Stilettos come with free internet access.

I could be wrong... You'll want to double check with SIRIUS on that one.

From what I remember and read, Stilettos come with the 32k steraming still because it would be some sort of legal issue if they didnt include it since its advertised as having it, before they made it mandatory to charge for internet. So you get 32k with stilettos at least. I cant vouch for anything since I am already a premium sub when I got my Sl2.

You are correct. SLs come with 32k streaming on the SL unit itself (not a PC).

To the OP: your existing account should be unaffected.

A question about the SL2's Wi-Fi... Does it use your user name and password or is it connecting without the User ID and password?

No, it doesn't. The SL2 has its own way to access the 32k stream.

In Canada, I get different channels through the SL2 and the online account. The SL2 gets a bunch of SIR-XX channels, online gets only 2. Online, I get CBC Radio 1 (ch. 137), yet the SL2 doesn't get it.

If you do not already have premium internet, will the SL2 allow you to listen to the 32kb stream online for free? Or will you still have to subscribe to the premium internet? Obviously, this is directed at those of you not already paying for premium internet.

Yes. You can listen to the 32kb stream on your SL2 for free. You will not get a user name and/or password to listen on your computer.
