Yet another example of why MLB continues to get its ass kicked by the NFL.

Instead of trying to get more fans, they are only interested in the $$$$$.

Did the NFL ask for more money to be put in XM? Did NASCAR?

These owners are killing a great game.

We have playoff games to 1:00 am because MLB owners don't care about the fans and here we go with yet another example.:bigahh:

I have a feeling that Sirius had some sort of stipulation in their contracts with the NFL and NASCAR stating that if there was a buy out or a merger, that these sports would be part of the others service. That's just my thought...:right:

As for the MLB, there are a lot of other ways to get baseball for "Free" and not have to pay for a satellite radio company to stream you every home game.

I remember when the St. Louis Cardinals were moving from KMOX to another, smaller, radio station in the St. Louis area. They sited that with the internet, there was no need to have a 50k radio station broadcasting their games anymore. The Cardinal fan in Des Moines, IA could now listen to the game online instead of trying to get the game via long distance AM.

The only person that is being left out of all of this is the person, like you and me, that wants to listen to another markets game while in the car, or truck in my case.

One of the reasons why I just turned on my old XM Radio was so next year, I could get MLB games while I'm driving down the road. For me or for a student, if they so choose. Plus the Sirius Radio I have is over three years old and it not able to get the Best of XM, but without the MLB, I wouldn't get it anyway...:(

I think the wording was originally put in place so tight to prevent XM from streaming the games on the internet compeeting with MLBs online offerings. To change wording in a contract is probably not too complicated but will involve teams of lawyers from both sides and that is never a fast process -- even if no new money changes hands.

some people buy entire packages on cable and satellite just for one channel. i did for hockey. hopefully i get baseball as well, but if not i'm not going to be upset. frustrated yes because of baseball's stupidity in handling, well, everything but not upset at sirixm. i live close enough to chicago to get cubs games at night on my regular radio, so i'll be okay.

I sincerely hope that BOXM gets MLB, but it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. I had to get BOXM just to keep my NBA... Bleah.

Spending money for sports channels is another factor that is adding to the demise of Satellite Radio. Before Sat. Rad came along how did we get our sport fixes? IMO ALL sport channels except the sport talk channels should be eliminated from Sat Rad and replaced with channels that can draw some bucks. At this point if the KKK is wiling to pay for a channel give it to them, I can always CHANGE THE CHANNEL or BLOCK IT.

:right:

Do you know how many thousands (if not millions) of subscribers Sirius picked up just because of the NFL & NASCAR?...

I'm not trying to burst your bubble here but do you know how many calls a day the NASCAR Channel gets vs any one music channel?

My guess is it's the sports & sports talk channels that bring in subscribers more than any one music channel or music genre.

I know as much as I enjoy the music on satellite radio, it's not what brought me here or what keeps me here. It's the sports & the sports channels. If I wanted just music, I would just use an iPod...:)

BTW, I know that a lot of the programs on the Christian Talk Channel have to pay just to be on Sirius. It's not that kind of programming that bring in the subscribers.

There would be a ton of Best of XM purchases though once this deal gets sealed.

SIRIUS is not offering "Best of XM" on my SIRIUS Brix Streamer, yet XM supports "Best of SIRIUS" on my old XM Roady2. So of course, I got the "Best of SIRIUS." However, I like my Streamer better so I wish it could support "Best of XM." Of course, "Best of XM" would have to have MLB for me to add it.

Hmmm interesting , but 210 is a pbp channel I would think if Sirius were to get the MLB channel they would put it from 198 to 207 because 210 through 220 is pbp.

I plugged in the boombox & was turniung through mainly to get some early scores & heard an interview with Tony LaRussa. I am a dual subscriber so I turned on the XM boombox & lo and behold it was MLB Home Plate. So we shall see what happens.

I am just waiting for a press release as to if MLB is going on the Best of XM , but right now I am just taking this info with a grain of salt. I would love to hear baseball games as well on my stratus 5.
