I dont know about how the CRTC would respond to this. The CRTC by the way is the Canadian version of the FCC.

The CRTC has no mandate that the SDARS spectrum be divided in 2. They granted 3 liscences (the 3rd to CHUM who never bothered starting a service -- it would have been a giant repeater network).

The merger up here should be straight forward. Most likely XM Canada will buy Sirius Canada (opposite of the way it is in the states) since XM Canada is public and Sirius Canada is private.

Nope they are entirely diffrerent companines from the US counterparts. Don't ask me how that happened or works out because I still don't have a clue.

Simple. They're run as separate companies. I mean it's basically 2 entirely different sets of audiences... although they've done a shitty job. SIRIUS US has some canadian stations actual Canadians do not have access to... and american XM subscribers have NHL home ice... i mean it's our friggen national sport!
But to be honest I'm up for a merger between the 2.. I might actually go out and buy a radio to use with my free sub.

Is Iceberg available in Canada?
I like Iceberg. Would like to hear it on the XM radios too.
