Show Mel how NOT to compete with free - DONT PAY FOR ONLINE

I remember as clear as a bell. "Why would we raise prices? How do you compete with free?" - Mel Karmazin

Some people may say "Well its just a couple of dollars". Well what about all the thousands of subscribers who bought shares in Sirius which are now WORTHLESS.

HAVENT WE PAID ENOUGH ALREADY?

Lets show him he was right! Instead of paying for the online service I urge all listeners to use an alternative

Slacker Personal Radio - Listen to Free Internet Radio Stations
Pandora Radio - Listen to Free Internet Radio, Find New Music
Listen to FM

Can others please post other FREE online listening ideas?

I SAY NO! (AND A BIG NO TO THE LAST OPTION)!

I'm sorry, but I love my 128k too much. :)

Also, I was already paying for it in the first place, why the hell should I cancel it?

But, I will say that I did cancel XM Radio Online. I smacked some sense into myself that paying $7.99 just for Cinemagic was a huge waste of money. Besides, I have already found some great alternatives that are very close in resemblance to Cinemagic (only that it's missing the channel IDs, and the cinema dialogue). One of them is called Cinemix (and you can stream it on the PC and Xbox 360).

All of the other channels are here on SIRIUS, so I don't need XMRO for anything else and there is no way in hell that I'm getting rid of my 128k (especially for a silly protest to Mel for something that needs to happen in order for the company to stay afloat). It's $2, you can either pay it (and enjoy sound quality that is 4x better than what is offered for free), or don't.

Same here. Anyone listening to the 32k muffled warble is going to be impressed with the higher bitrate stream, and then they'll realize it's worth the 3 bucks.

My other post was about a different topic. It was showing dollar amounts for the lifetime subsription.

I am sorry if I am trying to be precise.

I only question the reason we NEED multiple threads complaining about the coming changes, that's all.

Besides, I agree with others...the 128k is AWESOME...and well worth $3.

Yes, the negativity on this board is starting to drive me away. I came here to have a good time, not read a bunch of whining and complaining. If you really don't like it, cancel your sub and be done with it.

I'm not saying people can't complain..they have every right to. I'm just saying, "Can we keep it to 1-2 threads?? Do we need a new thread for every complaint?"

Until Hoard and Bubba are gone, I'll pay for online streaming. I think ultimately the alternative is no streaming - it's satellite radio, afterall - and no streaming is the worse option, IMO.

Having it free was nice, but a few bucks a month isn't going to break me. There's no way I will get a signal indoors at my workplace, so having the online option is nice.

I saw the yellow triangle explanation point and creamed my shorts:jj:

I am. I only listen to it on my SL2 and I will continue to pay for it. They can take away my XMRO streams. Don't care.

It's still not as bad as XMFAN. Every post is a complaint.

That's the great thing about the Internet service. You can use it ANYWHERE in the world with a Wi-Fi connection, and at only $3 a month (dime-a-day) you get crystal clear 128k. It's still a damn good deal!

Sorry OP, I'm sticking with my 128k Sirius Internet Radio. Pandora is OK and Slacker is neat in it's own right but I'm very happy giving my money to SIRI for a solid service that I enjoy everywhere.

I have no problem with the two threads. They cover different subjects.

For those of you tired of the "negativity" and complaining...all I can say is please be tolerant of dissenting opinions and use the ignore feature if you find it necessary.

I've dabbled with various internet radio offerings and IMO, it makes Sirius look that much better. I don't want to have to try a handful of stations until one sounds OK. The consistency of having the same channels available online and in my car is a great timesaver for me. The online option is a nice thing to have. I'm still not sure if I want to pay extra for it. I will first try my home dock in my office and see if i can get repeater coverage. If not, then I'll have to decide if I use SIR enough to warrant the extra pay.

I have a lifetime and two extras.
In solidarity with you all I will keep using the log on connected to my extra radio and start using my lifetime username as the log in one the day the free streaming dies.

How many of these thread taking about this stuff do we need?

Anyway, since it going, I will say that I support the price increase as I think we are at a point of sat radio staying or going.

I would or will gladly pay for the SIR service.

I've had this service for 9 years and never paid a penny more than I do now. So a few dollars more a month is just not that big of a deal!
