Shortening Antenna

Hi:
I have a Sirius Stratus 5 for my motorcycle. I've ordered the m/c mount from tss, however they were sold out of the antennas with really short cables. The mount has a place for the antenna so all that's needed is about 12 inches of cable. Is there a way to cut a normal antenna and re-splice the connetor onto the shortened cable ?

Splicing the other one is going to be a pain in the butt.
