I just started listening this mornings show. Is Sal really that retarted?? Really? They say it's not a bit but nobody could realy be that clueless?
Could they? :eek:
Its funny to hear somebody that dimwitted talk but it's almost unbelievable someone can be that stupid.

This is how that unfunny asshole gets airtime. It's pure schtick. Practically an hour of Sal being stupid, preceded by Lisa gushing about Beth on TV and Howard's wonderful choice of dresses for her, preceded by Bobo gushing about Beth and Sal on Howard TV, preceded by a caller who was so impressed with Beth he wondering if she is going to have her own TV show with Robin joining the clamor for more Beth. Artie is impressed too. Anybody care to do a review of the Sal and Beth show? I haven't seen it. I am sure Howard isn't going to let an honest call get through.

I'm not crying. I'm ranting.
As for finding it funny, I'm scratching my head because it was so obvious.. so contrived...and it went on so long. I'm not working today and I looked forward to an uninterrupted morning of great Howard.
Gary seems to sense when Howard is not ready to perform and needs to fill some time and he trots his protege ... Sal.. Gary always has a Sal story and Sal in reserve for times like that.

I'm not sure that Sal's stupidity is schtick. I think he *knows* that somehow his thinking is broken, and that his broken thinking is attractive to Howard. Sal's problem is that he doesn't quite know which part of the brokenness is funny, or what part is offensive.

Or when to quit. It is funny though, when he goes on longer than he should and digs himself a deeper hole.

It just seemed like you two turned it into a bitch fest about the show not being real or hating Sal in general and the show for that matter.
I was talking about the specific segment and looking back now, it was more the other post, not so much yours I was complaining about.

If this is Sal doing schtick, what is his reason for doing schtick in front of a guy he obviously seems to admire, during a chance meeting that has nothing to do with the show? Does anybody really think Sal set up Bobby Flay for a ration of schtick simply so he could gain airtime later?

My vote, Sal's that retarded. He's done too many things behind the scenes to think this is all a master plan for airtime.

If I recall correctly, Gary did not overhear Sal. Sal went to Gary to tell Gary what outrageous thing he had said to Bobby Flay and his wife so Gary coiuld repeat the story to Howard. Admires Bobby Flay?..... puhlease...nothing takes precedence over getting airtime with Howard by showing he stupid he is. Benji does the somthing similar ... he gives non-answers to straight forward questions.... and thereby gets airtime....

We'll agree to disagree. There are a lot more ways of getting airtime than to dream up this elaborate scheme. Sal can very simply go on the Wrap Up Show and say any one of a dozen dumb things to get airtime. He doesn't have to track down Bobby Flay and lure him into his schtick to do that. Next you'll be saying that sniffing Mutt's daughter's panties was for airtime.

PS - Who said anything about Gary overhearing Sal? Gary probably heard it the same way he always hears shit: Someone Sal told about the conversation (probably Richard) narc'd him out to Gary. Then Gary called in Sal to get the whole story. Happens every time.

Revealing it to someone was his way of getting airtime. And Sal does go on the WUS and act stupid and get many minutes of airtime. Gary likes to bring him in.
