I have moved my antenna all around my room and out the window and I'm able to get 2 bars at best but it will only last a half hour at the most. I'm using a car dock in my room with a power adapter from Radioshack, but I don't think that has anything to do with it. I have north-facing windows and the Sirius website says I should be pointing the antenna northwest. There is a big-ass pine tree in the way, but that never caused a problem with my old JVC unit that I was also using in its car dock. I emailed Sirius on Friday but they haven't emailed back.
Another thing that happens sometimes is if I get a solid signal, the S50 won't respond to my remote. Then the signal craps out and the remote works fine. It's really annoying.
