S50: Blast from the Past

I walked into a major chain electronics retailer yesterday in the Atlanta area, and found an S50 Home and Car Kit for sale for $46.99 each. I'm assuming the ones on the shelf were all they had. The Home Kit had a sticker on it about it how it may have previously been a floor display.

Actually, the whole auto section was a bit strange. I think that they have more or less given up on car audio, as many things were out of date or just had holes in the wall. They had outdated radios on display like the old JVC Sirius and Xpress XM.

BUY All the Car Kits that you can. They are worth a lot. At the very least we will buy them off you.

Well shit. I just threw two away last week. One was even unopened. I still use my S50. I have yet to have issues with it. I purchased it the day they were released.

The Car Docks that come in the Car kits are so hard to find and a lot of people really need them. The dock itself will fetch good money on Ebay for example.

Do you use it as an MP3 player and/or to record shows? Just curious. I did use mine as an MP3 player but I did very little recording.

Mine worked fine the day I got rid of it--upgraded at circuit city for the sl1.

Both. It is what I use when mowing.

Right 0.

I keep thinking of buying an S50 to have and use but I use the wifi so much on the sl2 that I think it might be silly to buy. I'm trying to convince myself that my wifes car could use it but she couldn't care less.

The home kit is ok but the best part of the car kit is the FM broadcast range. It's real far. Get a cheapo DC to AC converter and plug that thing into the wall and you are a winner.

I never connect this thing to the PC as there's really no reason to.

I'm still using my s50 at home with the car kit and an ac/dc converter. All working well. And I'm also still using yes50 to manage my s50 content. I'm probably the last of the yes50 Mohicans, but DAB may remember it.
