Hi
I've had an S100 for ~ 2 years and have had nothing but problems. The media dial broke on 3 units, and now that it's out of warranty it's developed a new problem.
Media dial works fine, but when I try to make a selection for sat. radio, internet, library, etc. the moment I press the dial the unit cuts out and reboots.
Is their a fix for this problem?

I'm going through Stern withdrawals and need to replace the unit with another radio that can record. I'm afraid of getting another S100 turd - Don't think I need the functions of an S2, but is it more dependable & durable?

Thanks for any advice

SL 100's are obsolete for a reason. Just make sure when you get your S2 you buy an extended warranty so you can upgrade to whatever receiver replaces that one eventually as well.

I've had zero SL100 problems except for the occasional need to remove the battery.

That said, I've learned about their weaknesses on this forum, so I use precautions:
At least 1 shutdown a week.
Got a home dock at home and work so no need to use the headphone jack.
Have a remote at home, work and in car, rarely use the dial.
Don't fill up the mem with radio replays.

So.... Do you get this problem when using the remote?
TSS-Radio sells remotes. Thats where I got my docks and remotes.
You could go to remote only use and prolong the life of your radio for a while.

Good luck.

Great advice! Here's a link to the remote: Stiletto Replacement Remote Control

Im not sure what causes the media dial to break. It is common with people that use protective cases, and when they take the case on and off it can catch the button and break or damage it. I would suggest you use a remote when it's docked or upgrade to an SL2.
