Reports: Cincy's Kelly will be Notre Dame's coach - CFB News - FOX Sports on MSN

Something about this story stinks. You move to the Cincy program trying to reach the big time. Now you're undefeated and a second from a possible national championship game (Neb over Texas might have pushed them from 3rd to 2nd) and you bail on your team before the final bowl game. Is ND that important that you can't finish the season? Good luck to the coach that has about three weeks to prepare with a matchup with an angry Florida team.

A good but difficult promotion. Cincy was a low-pressure position, where a team that flew under the radar most of the year made it to the top three teams in the BCS. ND will be different, where he is expected to resurrect Jesus' home team.

I understand that for most the Notre Dame job is a dream job, and it is a great opportunity, however, I think it is a total sham the way he is bailing on his team right before their biggest bowl game in their school history. He has done a great job everywhere he has been, and it will be interesting to see how he performs when he is under such a microscope. I really hope he does not return ND to prominence, as I hate ND with a passion.

baseball, whats that?

i believe that ranks just ahead of curling doesnt it?

Either way I don't think ND will return to prominence as they are not the only ones on TV anymore and with the fact they don't redshirt players, and the stringnent academic requirements they will not be able to get the athletes required to contend for national titles, they may go to a bcs bowl game once or twice, but ND is not the national power it once was. Plus the weather sucks in the fall and winter in South Bend and that doesn't look good to recruits.

This is kinda like the Rich Rod Michigan hire. He was one game away from the National title game. All he has to do was beat a shitty Pitt team. Something always seemed fishy about that game. I think he was in negotiations before that Pitt game was even played and it totally distracted him.

As for Kelly....... well I think we all knew he was going to take that job. I just figured he would want to coach his last game. I guess he took the Rich Rod road by just leaving. Kelly had a great offensive mind. The only problem is his defenses suck. Look at Weiss. He had great offense but shitty defense. This could really turn into more of the same for ol Notre Dame.

I wouldn't count out Cinci in the Sugar Bowl. Everyone and their mother thought Bama would blow Utah out of the stadium. Guess what..... didn't happen. Everyone thought Oklahoma would kill WVU in the Fiesta... again that never happened.

Yea, now I am really rooting for Cincy in the bowl game. That's the thing about bowl games, its really hard to understand motivation for a bunch of 18-22 year olds. That WVU victory over Oklahoma was awesome, I was especially glad to see that, as I thought Rodriquez left the program less than honorably...

I've always wondered if Weis cut his own hair, I mean WTF?

On topic,. I know that ND was Kelley's dream job, but it's still pretty low. I predict in 4 years ND will be looking for another head coach.

If the NCAA had any balls they would force the other football factory schools to adopt the same graduation rates and grade standards as Notre Dame, Nebraska, and a few other schools. The Texas grad rate is at 50%, that's just sad.
