Wessa, the girl who gave Dale Earnhardt Sr the lucky penny when he won the 1998 Daytona 500, will attend the spring race at Bristol. The NASCAR angels television program has arranged to being Wessa and her family to Bristol to film her as part of a "heart of NASCAR" sgement.

I would like to know, and perhaps David can answer this. But I was watching the 99 Daytona 500, and they showed Dale Sr. going to Daytona USA and getting the penny that he glued to the dash to the winning car. Did he go back and reglue the penny he took, or is the penny that is in the car in the Childress museum not the real penny?

The answer is in the article that I posted the link to. He didn't get the penny from the car. He wanted to but wasn't allowed. Here is an excerpt from the article.....

Earnhardt wanted to retrieve Wessa's penny. He wanted an eighth championship, and that coin might have still had luck left in it.

But because the penny was on the car when it raced, it stayed on in the museum. The Millers returned to Daytona from Disney World, went to the museum and saw the car.

And Wessa's penny.

-AND-

It's also in the Richard Childress Racing Museum in Welcome, where the car in which Earnhardt won the Daytona 500 race is on display.

Wessa's penny is still glued to the dash.

A much better source than David can be reached @ 1-866-PIT-LANE, M-F, 11:00AM-3:00PM. :yesshake:

Man, you couldn't write a story more heart warming and better than that.

amen!

i love it when mike and david had her on here awhile back. maybe they will attempt to get the miller's on-air before they go to bristol and if they do, hopefully they can let us know ahead of time when they will be scheduled to be on. unless mike or david wants to purchase me a stiletto. :)

lol. i just said that because its hard for me at times to catch the show because i'm usually in meetings in the morning or i've started listening to howard at 5 and my receivers can only rewind back some hour and 28 minutes of the program. i mean i wouldn't expect or ask that, but i just throw that out there. like the old saying goes, what do i have to lose, doesn't hurt to ask. lol

Can't remember
I'm not sure how their home is set up for Wessa, but I thought on the interview the other day with her mom Juanita, she said they had their bathroom redone? I wonder if they need other help with their home.

Wouldn't this be a family you'd love to see on Extreme Makeover Home Edition.

absolutely, but i wonder if the miller's would want that kind of attention. i may not be a earnhardt sr/jr fan, but it is by all means a heart felt story and not to mention a tear jerker.
