The update was released yesterday in case you haven't checked iTunes lately.

Here's what's new in this version:

+ Tap album art to see progress bar, create a station from the current song or artist, or email this station to a friend.
+ View album art backside to see artist bios.
+ Rotate to landscape to see recently played songs.
+ Play song samples for all of your song bookmarks.
+ Create stations based on genre

DAB, I think that is a limitation that Apple has put on the SDK. I haven't seen ANY apps that can run in the background. Have you?

My understanding is that the uSirius application that they are currently beta testing can do this.

I am testing the uSirius app. I haven't been able to get that to work but I will have to investigate it some more and see if I missed the option. I'll let you know if I get it to work.

Great please do, I was trying to think where I read that it would be an option that would work. Might have been something I read on Orbitcast.

I think SatRadioRules is testing it too, so maybe he will chime in.

I did download this Pandora application and these new features are pretty cool. I like the ability to show the progress of the song playing.

I too was under the impression that the only thing that can run in the background is the iPod piece itself. Any other application "exits" when you return to the home screen.

That was my impression too, which is why I wondered about it. I don't know maybe I dreamed it, but it sure seems like I remember reading or hearing this from somewhere, but in going back reviewing all the Orbitcast info, I see nothing about it now.

Anyway... I wish Apple would remove this limitation and let us decide what we want to do in terms of battery life. This is why so many hate Apple because of their protectionist proprietary behavior.

So far I'm having some issues with Pandora 2.0; There is a noticeable gap in time between EVERY song. sometimes up to 1 minute with no music being played. It's very annoying. Anyone else experiencing this?

No, I have not seen this issue at all. In fact I had an old aunt over this morning for breakfast and she asked me to play some Bluegrass Gospel. Well I couldn't come up with anything on Slacker. But with 3 or 4 Bluegrass Gospel artist we were up and running. I love Pandora's system as you don't have to worry about having 15 artist to create a really good station. She loved it! But there was no gap between songs at all. I just tested it on some other stations and no gap.

OK, thanks. I'll try reinstalling it.

Weird, when 2.0 first came out, I received notification about the update within the App Store. I immediately upgraded or so I thought. Then the weirdness with ~ 60 second delays between songs. I uninstalled and then reinstalled and now it seems to be perfect. Also, I now see there are 2 new icons, (email and create new playlist). These 2 icons were not visible prior to my reinstallation of 2.0. Really weird. I think I'm good to go!

Yeah those are new features which were missing previously. Now you can see song progress, create stations based on the artist you are listening too and of course email the station. There is now artist bio info and song info available to read as well, which is a cool feature.

My favorite feature of all on the Pandora setup is the QuickMix, which allows you to basically create like an FM Jack or Shuffle Station. I used it during the holidays to pull from multiple genres of Holiday Music.

I like the Pandora App, but I am still looking forward to the Slacker App and then eventually the uSirius App, talk about have the best of all worlds on your iPod Touch! WOW!!!

Do you have the first or second gen Touch? I read a lot of problems with the second gen on Apples forums. Glad I never upgraded.
