Overcharged! Check your CC statements if you locked in at $6.99/mo

So I ordered a second radio online on 3/10/2009, and locked in a 2 year contract at $6.99 a month. They emailed a receipt, and everything checked out OK.

But when I checked my credit card statement a few days later, I noticed that Sirius charged me for 2 years at $8.99 a month! Apparently since the radio shipped on March 12th, "the system" charged my credit card for the higher rate.

A call to customer service straightened everything out. So I'm happy now. But if you placed an order before March 11th, you might want to check your credit card statements to make sure you weren't overcharged!

I got a surprise when I got billed... .I threatened to cancel and they said I could get 4.99 for 6 months instead.

I said OK (this was on 3 radios).

Low and behold I was charged upfront (4.99 *6) *3 plus taxes... for a hit of like 90 bux. I was told it would be billed monthly.

You are complaining about paying $90 for 6months of service for 3 radios.

I can't IMAGINE why satellite radio is going to become the next FM. People are such broke ass cheap asses might as well just fill the thing with ads.

If people are going to bitch either way...

I responded to a pop-up window the other day and just decided to lock my 2nd sub in for a year to get the cheaper rate and the free streaming. Mostly to stream the Metallica channel. I noticed the payment went thru over the weekend. I try to login today and it prompts me to upgrade to premium streaming or the player dies out. I called and they had to do something to allow me to log on again, then I noticed that there was a 2.99 charge on my card as well as the year, so they are supposedly taking that off now.

Be sure to look at your Sirius Acct statement AND credit card statement.

It's not that much stress that I want to take 3 steps backwards to writing checks again...

Not complaining about the overall price, just that I was told it'd be a monthly charge, not a bulk up-front payment. Is that not something to be concerned about? Being told one thing and another happening? If someone was on a specific budget, this could be a major problem for them.

Of course the price is fantastic, don't be silly.

I bet it will take less time to write my check than for you to verify your credit statement. :nana:

Judging by the last few people I've been in line behind that were using a checkbook, I doubt it...

I just got billed for my second sub on 3-28. They billed me for $8.99 a month for 11 months (one month free) for $98.89.

I'm on the phone now and just got $6.99 for the next year. Got in one day before the lock.

I will wait on my 2 year sub that ends in November.

Like the OP said, check your statements.

Anyone have any issues with Xm while locking in the old rates? I activated my 5th XM radio the other day, and they asked if i wanted to lock in the rates on the other 3. I have to call later to lock it in on at least 2 of them.
