Nothing good will ever come from AI.
You really think that?

I don't know. I really like Gemini on my pixel. It's really cool how it's conversational and you can tell how it's like the next generation of Alexa or Siri or those things.

But since Gemini is conversational, it's much easier to continue with the line of questioning because it remembers what you're talking about.

For example, on Friday I asked it about quarterbacks that have thrown for 500 yd since cousins did it on tnf. It told me how many quarterbacks have done it before But then I got to talking to it about how many quarterbacks who have thrown for 500 yd are also considered the best of all time and that led to a conversation about the best of all-time quarterbacks. Anyway that led to a discussion about the best QBs of all time and Johnny Unitas was brought up and well I knew he was amazing and a Colt I didn't know that that he basically created the modern pocket passing quarterback and before him the NFL was like 80% run game.

I would never have gotten that far asking individual specific questions to Alexa.

I think he's kidding, but also cautionary. A lot of good has already come from AI, everything from curing diseases to improving car safety and making your internet experience better. It’s kind of like global climate change; people argue about how it'll affect the future, meanwhile it's already here.

I honestly can see how if it gets too good it can be a little worrisome. What I mean is like people who are already antisocial will have no reason to even attempt to be social if Gemini gets to the point of like the movie her and I'm not talking about like sexually I'm talking about just like being a friend and it would be super weird for people to walk around with their headphones and talking to Gemini and considering it like talking to their friend.

Also, with climate change, I don't believe anybody actually thinks it's not a thing that humans have exacerbated. I mean maybe like complete idiots but I don't think any politician actually believes that. I think they just say it because it's easier for morons to understand. And when they are opposed to climate change regulations and things like that, I think they're really just opposed to it. Not because they don't believe in the science, but because they are opposed to the the effects it would have on the economy.

Also, I tried to get Gemini to take a political stand and I also tried to get Gemini to be sexual and it won't do either. Yeah, I'm a degenerate. But it would be kind of funny if it did.

I am half kidding. Already you can't trust any video or picture of anything whether it's a movie trailer or a candidate walking in flood waters. Anything can be faked now by anybody. It used to be done only by people who knew what the fuck they were doing.

And I don't think it will be long before it will start replacing people at their jobs.

Once they are entrenched, then comes Terminator or Matrix type shit.

That's actually an interesting point. Point I mean asimov's law is taken as gospel but it's really just a guideline he came up with. I could see a world where ai gets so advanced that eventually we have to start thinking about constitutional amendments and what not.

Like if AI gets advanced enough that it can literally think for itself then there is a serious discussion to be had about how it deserves rights.

Like I don't believe the soul exists. I know I'm in the minority there. I'm kind of Christian and I kind of believe in the holy Spirit and I guess that is technically the soul But as a Christian, I believe that's technically just a different form of the almighty and Jesus. The three of them are different forms of the exact same thing . It's like the third form of them. And for us, it is another way that God helps guide us to be moral people by following the holy. Spirit

I don't think people have like a soul in them. The soul is just our simplified way of explaining people's moral code that they have in their brain.

So you don't need a soul to deserve rights. Or a physical body . You need to be able to 100% autonomously Think on your own equal to or greater than Homo sapiens. And things like Gemini are kind of the start of artificial intelligence doing exactly that down the road.

Asimov had a guideline. All his robot's in his novels followed it (aside from when it was convenient in the plot to have it not). There are no guidelines, laws, rules or anything on AI right now. I think the cat is pretty much out of the bag now.

Also you probably know this but Big Ben threw for over 500 yd two times. That equals the number of times he was accused of sexual assault.

Without Gemini I had zero idea that Big Ben ever threw for 500 yd and I thought that he was only accused of assault once.

Basically, I'm using AI that can tell me anything about the entire world's history to learn about quarterbacks in the 2000s. I should probably ask it You could teach me about Madison, Jay and Hamilton and learn some more details about the Federalist papers... Or you know something that would actually increase my intelligence? Not just stupid football info.

But stupid football facts are fun.

Have you read his work? I just know him by name. I've never read anything of his. I should throw one of his books onto my Kindle.

Okay I just hooked it up using dumb Google. Was he really that smart or was he just a good writer? It said he was a biochemist but I mean like if you're really good at it and you're also entertaining. You would be like Carl Sagan or Neil deGrasse Tyson people who entertain but also help us nor me better understand the world in real life. Not through fake stories.

He sounds a bit to me like Michael Crichton. Like Crichton is my all-time favorite author and I view him as a genius writer of science fiction but if he was an entertainer first. Sagan and those guys were educators first that could also entertain.

When I was a kid Asimov and Henlien were staples for me. I have not read his Foundation series but I understand they are quite good. They are just very long and too big a commitment for my sporadic reading schedule.

I think he is quite smart. For a guy writing in the 40s and 50s his ideas are far ahead of the technology of the day. Obviously some of it turned out to be just plain wrong but still very interesting.

"I Robot" was a book which was pretty good. A poor adaptation of it was done a while back with Will Smith. Basically, from what I remember, a man is murdered and it looks to be by a robot. So the investigator has to determine if it was by a robot and if so how it could get around the 3 laws of Robotics. I can't remember the solution but it was a very interesting book. But he uses those laws in several books -- any book which has robots.

Yea embarrassingly when I saw he wrote I wrote I robot I only knew it from the movie. Will Smith was one of my all-time favorite actors pre slap but that movie kind of sucked.

But But isn't he basically the same as like HG Wells or Bradbury or Jules Verne or Michael Crichton? I mean he was a science fiction writer.

I mean you could even throw Gene Roddenberry in there. I know it's a different type of writing but it's still writing.

My point being that people take asimov's law. So seriously, but he was just an entertaining science fiction writer.

He may be one of the best in history, but I don't want Tom Brady deciding the rules for football. He was just a really good football player I want people with doctorates on the history of football competition to decide the rules. Not some guy who is really good at it.

The Laws were a construct Asimov used for his novels. They have no basis in science or reality. If he ever wrote AI, I am sure he would put them in as I think he thought they were pretty good ideas.

The bottom line is we're being told that the effects of climate change won't be noticed for 450 years, and that determines what people think. And that misinformation has been going on for 50 years. Which is why we now have "thousand year" events every year.

But I live up north in a rocky, hilly state. So I'm all set. It's the tropical sea-level states that are going bye-bye.

I'm going to argue that point.

And please don't think I'm some weird climate change denier because I'm not. I totally believe that human industry has accelerated climate change.

However, I think it's more like we hear about the 100-year floods over and over again, not thousand year. Take for example. Tennessee and Carolina, they were talking about floods that happened in the early 1900s that compared to what just happened with Helene.
