SILVERSTONE, England -- Formula One's future was in turmoil Friday after Ferrari, McLaren and six other teams announced plans for a rival series following the collapse of heated negotiations with the sport's organizers over a budget cap for next season.

This is the big one, the real deal, the Category 5 hurricane headed straight for Formula One. The big teams are in full revolt, according to the storm warning that arrived in my e-mail Thursday from the Formula One Teams Association, Ed Hinton writes.

I agree. F1 has all the money and shows. There's no way the break away teams could make it happen :right:

No way, the FIA will get it resolved, the manufacturers have all the money and leverage in this case. They can get track deals and TV deals on the blink of an eye because of the star power they would have.
