The only difference beside the price is that The Premium Radio allows you to save songs via the web player and portable devices.

I think this is a smart move by Slacker, because I rarely save songs myself and had this option been available I would have likely gone with the $3.99 plan at the time. Clearly Slacker is going to push this $3.99 per month plan as you can't find the Premium Radio plan unless you go the link above. I don't even find any mention of the Slacker Premium Radio plan on their site now. The link above is found in their forum only that I can tell.

This is a great idea. I don't care about saving songs or requests. I mainly got the Premium service for the unlimited skips. Great move Slacker!

So..

Those of us who have subbed to "premium radio" now need to call in to change the subscription plan? Do both plans allow you to still use "love" and "ban"?

Your premium will continue if you don't cancel it. I assume you will be billed the yearly price though. Since they only offer yearly now.

This is all good timing for me. As I have 24 hours left on my 6 month premium trial. With the premium offer only I could see using the saved songs feature as a personal play list at times, but really I don't think I would do that very often. So I may just go with the new option of radio plus. I don't think Slacker has open chat support on Sat. So I may just do online chat this morning to make the change. Chat should be coming online in a little while. I guess I am glad I held off on signing up for the premium.

To reduce confusion I edited my post. Premium can be canceled via "your account". I originally typed call in to support, but that of course is not accurate. My mistake. Still was waking up at the time.

Great move. I've been very happy with the free service, but this will probably get me to upgrade.

I used the "account" option when signed in and canceled my premium account. The cancellation does take effect until your current sub runs out. Then I'll sign up for the Plus option.

I chatted with support. I was actually able to cancel my premium trial via "my account" page. I can't sign up for the radio plus till my premium trial expires. Which is dated for Saturday. So I guess I will be signing up for the radio plus on Sunday morning. The radio plus is half the price. I did not feel I would use the saved songs that much. So went with the better offer. This is one of the reasons I went with a lessor premium commitment plan. I was hoping they would offer other packages. Turns out I was on the money, and the timing could not have been better. I went to bed thinking about this last night. As I had noticed the announcement on the slacker forum. I think I had been watching the slacker announcement forum for some time now on a daily basis. Hoping for more available listening packages to come available. I agree this was a good move on Slackers part.......

I'm just really glad the radio plus offers the unlimited song requests ! Otherwise I would have kept the premium.

Yes the ban and favorite features work on both plans.

I am glad I had put off buying subscriptions for my gift G1's, because this will be what they get along with the device. Very Nice! :)

To cancel your Slacker Premium Radio plan you don't have to chat or email, just do as DoublEE suggest below.

Thanks Eric that is good info. I just did the same thing. It then give you the date your non renewing sub will expire and as you said we can then change to the Slacker Radio Plus.

I received my Radio Plus e-memo from Slacker today. I will most eventually sign up but at this point I am very satisfied with the basic subscription. I have yet to hear any commercials on my G2 and I still get to play music director of my station.

Ya-hoo! Even better! Seeing as how I split my time between my G1 and iPod Touch, saving wasn't a big deal for me anyway (and it seems like Heart-ing songs gets them enough repetition for me, being used to XM's 36-48 hr rotationsss).

Which reminds me, I have two XM subs I need to cancel. Better do it before Xmas.

How would you guys feel if they offered those that subscribe to the Premium service to download the music to our portables at a tad bit higher bitrate? Currently it is downloaded 40kb AAC+ V2. What would be the next level up? 65kb

Would this make you get the Premium over the Plus?

What do you think of the idea?

I am always looking for better SQ, but I have to say I am pretty happy with the current SQ as it is. Not sure this would convince me to upgrade, but since I already have the Premium. Then again I don't know that this is possible without it screwing up the number of stations they claim a given size devices can do. It likely would!
