Out of the 19 rock and single artist channels which would you consolidate and still have 10-15 Rock channels?

How I would do this , I would combine the Boneyard and Hair Nation with newer tracks of course from those artists , I would also combine The Spectrum and the Coffee House becuase they seem to play the mellower stuff. Rewind and Vinyl I wouldnt combine because it would sound like FM classic Rock, but I would deepen the playlist some.

If I were programming Sirius...

Dump E-Street Radio + add The Groove (Sirius)
Dump Grateful Dead Radio + Keep Cinemagic
Dump Coffee House (because I don't like it... ;)) + add a true World music channel
Never take over The Bridge again.
Maybe dump or merge The Spectrum.

The rest of the rock lineup, I'm quite satisfied with.

Definetly and another thing I would do is put one channel as a single artist rotating channel of the week.

Radio Margaritaville isn't a single artist station and it's pretty good. Elvis? Forget it, that's a corporation. All rest can go. And find room for Movin' Easy!

I think there's some room for consolidation and have often wondered why there are so many.

Lets see there are 69 music channels. So I would choose 69 artists and have 69 artist only channels. Isn’t that a great idea Sirius?

That seems to be what SiriXM is pushing. The new commercial for $100 bucks off a lifetime sub mentions nothing but the single artist channels (maybe with the exception of the underground garage).

Scrap all of the SINGLE-ARTIST CHANNELS before you mess around with any of the Rock channels... and DON'T YOU THINK OF TOUCHING MY BRIDGE! I swear, if they take that channel down again I will personally fly down to New York and set their headquarters on fire.

Eh, no. The Spectrum is the only real AC-format channel Sirius has, and I'm fairly sure it's one of the more popular rock channels. The Coffee House is definately not an AC channel.

I would also never merge Vinyl and Rewind. If you do that, you get exactly the same as FM radio "classic rock". No thanks. I'd rather listen to one or the other, depending on my mood, not a clone of an FM radio playlist.

You can combine them and still have an excellent representation of classic rock and still open slots for other genres of music that keep getting dropped for more and more rock music. The goal is trim the excess from the rock channels to have more room for others.

I like Vinyl and Rewind the way they are as well, but if you say by combining these that it will open up a spot on Sirius to permanently keep Cinemagic or The Village, or any channel like that then I am all for the combine.

I really don't know how often you listen to these two stations, but the Spectrum and Coffehouse are not similar in any way whatsover. The Spectrum is much heavier and more rock-oriented than the Coffehouse. The whole feel of the stations is different. The Coffeehouse is mellow while the Spectrum is more in-your-face. If you're going to combine the Coffehouse with any station, I would think it would be one of the more mellow stations. There is no station on Sirius that has the same format as the Spectrum.
