I gotta agree about the KISS thing, that's not music.

As far as currently overrated the first thing that comes to mind is the steamtrain of suckingness called the Jonas Brothers. I know they appeal to kids and teens but they're selling out places like the Staples Center and have about as much talent as a retarded moose.

"Describe Elvis Presley? He was the greatest who ever was, is, or will ever be."---Chuck Berry

"There are two American originals, Elvis and me. Elvis is gone, and I’ve got to carry on."---James Brown

"I wasn't just a fan, I was his brother. He said I was good and I said he was good; we never argued about that. Elvis was a hard worker, dedicated, and God loved him. Last time I saw him was at Graceland. We sang Old Blind Barnabus together, a gospel song. I love him and hope to see him in Heaven. There'll never be another like that soul brother."---James Brown

"Elvis was God-given. There's no other explanation. A messiah comes around every few thousand years, and Elvis was it this time."---Little Richard

"Elvis was an integrator. Elvis was a blessing. They wouldn't let black music through. He opened the door for black music."---Little Richard

"That’s my idol, Elvis Presley. If you went to my house, you’d see pictures all over of Elvis. He’s just the greatest entertainer that ever lived."---Eddie Murphy

"A lot of people have accused Elvis of stealing the black man’s music, when in fact, almost every black solo entertainer copied his stage mannerisms from Elvis, and wanted to be like Elvis."---Jackie Wilson

"I remember Elvis as a young man hanging around the Sun studios. Even then, I knew this kid had a tremendous talent. He was a dynamic young boy. His phraseology, his way of looking at a song, was as unique as Sinatra's. I was a tremendous fan, and had Elvis lived, there would have been no end to his inventiveness."---B.B. King

"Elvis, he was unique. And he loved the blues, it was a pity he didn't do more."---B.B. King

"Elvis was a giant and influenced everyone in the business."---Isaac Hayes

"Elvis had an influence on everybody with his musical approach. He broke the ice for all of us."---Al Green

"On a scale of one to ten, I would rate Elvis eleven."---Sammy Davis Jr.

"Before Elvis, there was nothing."---John Lennon

"Nothing really affected me until I heard Elvis. If there hadn't been an Elvis, there wouldn't have been the Beatles."---John Lennon

"I always wanted to be this tough James Dean type, but Elvis was bigger than religion in my life."---John Lennon

"When I heard Heartbreak Hotel, it was so great I couldn't speak. I didn't want to say anything against Elvis, not even in my mind."---John Lennon

"There's only one person in the United States that we have ever wanted to meet....And we met him last night. We can't tell you how we felt. We just idolized him so much. When we first came to town, these guys like Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra and all these people wanted to come over and hang around with us at night simply because we had all the women, all the chicks. We don't want to meet those people. They don't really like us. We don't really admire or like them. The only person that we wanted to meet in the United States of America was Elvis Presley. We can't tell you what a thrill that was last night."---John Lennon

"I doubt very much if The Beatles would have happened if it was not for Elvis."---Paul McCartney

"When we were kids growing up in Liverpool, all we ever wanted to be was Elvis Presley."---Paul McCartney

"It was Elvis who really got me hooked on beat music. When I heard "Heartbreak Hotel" I thought, this is it."---Paul McCartney

"I always knew that no matter how I felt, if I played an Elvis record it would make me happy. I've always dreamed of producing an album for Elvis."---Paul McCartney

"It was a real thrill sitting there with the King."---Paul McCartney (After meeting Elvis)

"Elvis Presley is like the 'Big Bang' of Rock 'n' Roll. It all came from there and what you had in Elvis Presley is a very interesting moment because, really, to be pretentious about it for a minute, you had two cultures colliding there. You had a kind of white, European culture and an African culture coming together - the rhythm, okay, of black music and the melody chord progressions of white music - just all came together in that kind of spastic dance of his. That was the moment. That's really it. Out of all that came the Beatles and the Stones, but you can't underestimate what happened. It does get back to Elvis."---Bono of U2

"Elvis was a major hero of mine. I was probably stupid enough to believe that having the same birthday as him actually meant something."---David Bowie

"When I first heard Elvis' voice I just knew that I wasn't going to work for anybody; and nobody was going to be my boss....Hearing him for the first time was like busting out of jail."---Bob Dylan

"The highlight of my career? That's easy, Elvis recording one of my songs."---Bob Dylan

"I learned music listening to Elvis' records. His measurable effect on culture and music was even greater in England than in the States."---Mick Fleetwood

"Without Elvis, none of us could have made it."---Buddy Holly

"No one, but no one, is his equal, or ever will be. He [Elvis] was, and is supreme."---Mick Jagger

"He [Elvis] was a unique artist, an original in an era of imitators."---Mick Jagger

"It was Elvis that got me interested in music. I've been an Elvis fan since I was a kid. Ask anyone. If it hadn't been for Elvis, I don't know where popular music would be. He was the one that started it all off, and he was definitely the start of it for me."---Elton John

"Elvis is the best ever, the most original. He started the ball rolling for us all. He deserves the recognition."---Jim Morrison

"He [Elvis] was the firstest with the mostest."---Roy Orbison

"Elvis is my religion. But for him, I'd be selling encyclopedias right now."---Bruce Springsteen

"There have been a lotta tough guys. There have been pretenders. And there have been contenders. But there is only one king [Elvis]."---Bruce Springsteen

"Elvis was the king. No doubt about it. People like myself, Mick Jagger and all the others only followed in his footsteps."---Rod Stewart

Aerosmith...

A darn good band in the 1970's, and deserved all the accolades they got back then.

However, like the Rolling Stones, they decided to hang around too long.

If Aerosmith and the Stones had called it quits after the 1970's, they'd be more highly regarded today.

This is the easiest question of all time.

The Rolling Stones

The Stones were a great band for about the first fifteen years. They started to suck in the late 70's, and have been going downhill ever since.

"Hot Rocks 1964-1971" is one of the most outstanding albums I've ever owned. Virtually every single song is an absolute classic. Light years above anything being released today.

Nickelback. I consider them "bubblegum rock" after hearing their song "Photograph". Although, their other song "Rockstar" is pretty good for the bar scene.

After Chuck D educated himself about Elvis, he changed his tune dramatically: :p

"Elvis had to come through the streets of Memphis and turn out black crowds before he became famous. It wasn't like he cheated to get there. He was a bad-ass white boy. Just like Eminem is doing today. The thing about today is that Eminem has more respect for black artists and black people and culture today than a lot of black artists themselves. He has a better knowledge where it comes from. Elvis had a great respect for black folk at a time when black folks were considered niggers, and who gave a damn about nigger music?"---Chuck D :yesshake:
