The last remaining member of The Jimi Hendrix Experience died on Wednesday. Mitch Mitchell was a very underrated drummer. Of course, anyone playing alongside Jimi Hendrix would have been outshined.

I'm no drummer and I don't know much about technique, but I always loved his drumming in "May This Be Love". But since I can't find a YouTube of that song that will embed, I'll give you "Spanish Castle Magic".

This is the first I hear about it.

He was indeed an excellent drummer.

He was indeed an excellent drummer.

I think he was every bit as good as guys like John Bonham, Keith Moon, etc. Unfortunately, he never got the same kind of acclaim as guys like that. I guess that's the drawback of playing with Hendrix.
