Yes, I think they will certainly have to do a better job with the channels themselves. I think the line up will work, but not with shallow playlist.

In regards to comedy, I haven't listened to those but for maybe an hour the whole time I've had sat radio so that doesn't impact me personally, but your point is well taken.

What do you mean shalllow playlist. I have listened to live streams online from one of our local radio stations that broadcasts in HD. Listened to what was playing and couple the songs were played like 10-12 hours ago. Some radio stations do that and it makes less likely to want to listen to the radio with any service knowing 12 hours later I could here the same thing over again.

Are they gonna do anything to what channels are offered with each plan like what will happen with the Mostly Music? It would be nice if they added a few channels like ESPN or FOX Sports Radio or Mad Dogg. It would be nice if they offered a few sports channels with the Mostly Music.

If you compared the playlists on Sirius to the playlists on XM, Sirius's playlist were shallow compared to XM, and there were fans on both sides.

XM had Lucy Sirius has Lithium. Lucy was programmed more like a 90's Modern Rock channel and Lithium was more focused only on the grunge of the 90's and each style has their fans.

Shallow playlist, repeating songs and/or artist too often, not keeping the playlist fresh. Failing to add music and take away music on a daily basis to keep the playlist unpredictable. I can tell you right now on Sirius there are channels that I can almost set my watch to in terms of the stale playlist and they play the same crap over and over with very few adds and removes to keep the channel fresh.

XM'ers are use to having deeper fresher playlist. Sirius is clearly going to have the change their overall philosophy or this isn't going to happen. This also doesn't mean that they have to necessarily move away from their hits based style, but they do have to dig deeper and keep it fresh.

There will be some channels were repetition is expected because it is hits based and currently tunes. But overall not all channels should be like this.

An example of a channel with terribly stale playlist is Roadhouse. My GOD it is barely even mixed up day by day, but you hear the same set of songs almost over each day. Now American on XM, always seem to mix it up, keep it fresh and interesting. You never knew what they were going to play. So that is why I say Sirius isn't going to be able to continue with shallow playlist. I think if they do this, then they will see folks churning away from the service.

By the way you can have some channels with shallower playlist than others, but you still need a good core of channels that have good healthy playlist.

I tried the Bridge a few times, and I could never get into it. A bit too FM-ish for me.

You wont find any FM station with programming like The Bridge, sorry. The Bridge is softer classic rock, hits, and LP cuts, singer song writer selections. Its very unique, and XM had nothing like it. :)

Oh yeah

Nice job by XM Sirius in keeping the Boneyard (well in January) and dropping Buzzsaw. Buzzsaw was the worst programmed channel on Sirius.

I'm loving this new lineup.

Can't wait to hear the new Pop2K. Hopefully that's the new face of SIRIUS Hits 1.

I will admit I'll miss No Shoes Radio, which disappeared a few weeks ago. XM did a great job with that special artist channel, it wasn't just Kenny Chesney, but a bunch of other feel good music.

Sort of reminded me of the old SIRIUS Vacation. That's one station I'd wish they'd bring back.

Attention all Sirius Subscribers; from a reliable source

The Bridge remains
Cosmo Radio however does not!

You mean the Bridge as in currently Led Zeppelin? According to the XM Schedule The Bridge will be on their channel line up, but won't actually be The Bridge again until Jan 2009.

The new channel lineup got me to extend the trial on my OEM XM in my new Hyundai.
Initially I wasn't too high on the XM music channels (being so used to my Sirius favorites) and I missed The Underground Garage which has unique programming.

I signed up for a two year sub w/ Best Of Sirius, starts after the end of the free trial. It'll be nice to have the OEM unit with no receiver/ dock hanging off the dash.

Uhh... so either cosmo radio becomes an XM exclusive, the XM lineup is wrong, or this is wrong.

I didn't catch that but you are correct Cosmo Radio is channel 162 on the new XM Line up. I doubt it would be exclusive to XM and dropped from Sirius. Strange!

Fun Fearless Female COSMO Radio!

A sad day for XM. Keeping Deep Tracks was a good move. The Sirius equiv to Top Track is just not as good....DJ blather and repetition are awful. Losing Fine Tuning is a shame. If they keep the shallow playlists, they will lose me. My classic rock station on Slacker is world's better than what will replace Top Tracks. However, I will give the company the benefit of the doubt that while they are keeping the majority of the Sirius rock stations, that they will expand them under the XM programming philosophy.

I am loving my Slacker right now....

I don't agree. Although I am loosing one of my favorite channels on XM I am gaining a few new channels that I missed when I left Sirius. So now I just hope Sirius doesn't butcher XM's music library.
