Let's find out the truth about censoring

I'm seeing online various responses about whether since the channel merge that people are not hearing the UNCENSORED version of their songs.

I've gotten a response from an upper management that the only change to censored or not in regards to the music channels is that The Heat is censored and will not play cussing.

The rest of the channels haven't changed. I think it's possible that playing censored songs may have been a mistake if that happened and that it's NOT a POLICY CHANGE. But let's take things into our own hands by finding out.

Today at TSS we are going to have 3 people, Tish, Matt and Jimmy listen as much as possible to one channel each. If other people could join in and note what songs they've heard have been censored specifically we might be able to make some progress.

Here are who we have working on this and what station they will follow.

Jimmy.......Hip Hop Nation
Tish...........Lithium
Matt..........Alt Nation

Please help us get to the bottom of this!

I listen for 12hrs a day and can ABSOLUTELY SAY that the songs are crazy edited.

Wait for PUSA "kitty" to come on Lithium and the FUCK YOU KITTY YOU'RE GONNA SPEND THE NIGHT is now CUTE KITTY YOU'RE GONNA SPEND THE NIGHT

I've listened to that song 5000times in the past 6 months on the same channel and NEVER have I heard this edited version EVER. Not on Sirius, not anywhere.

I know for sure on Hip Hop Nation they play the edited version of T.I. Whatever You Like
instead of "broke ni**a be quiet" it says "broke joker be quiet". they play that song enough that i hear it every time i am listening.

I'm hoping that we can just list specific examples of the songs that were played at what times on what channel. If we do this the right way we may be able to either get down to the truth or find out why the wrong version of the song was played.

the are playing an edited version of Put On Rmx with Jay Z right now - 11:02 AM EST on HHN

ETA, i never heard this on Sirius before the merger... and it is basically someone pushing the mute button everytime Jay-Z cussed which was like once a second

I have been listening to Alt. Nation (ch. 21)for a bit now this morning. I have my Sporster set on replay back by about 30 minutes do I can research lyrics. I hadn't heard anything that needed to be censored for half an hour till Ben Folds Five cam on. The song is called "You Don't Know Me." Heard F*** about 3 minutes into the song. No Censoring.

Some of the music is now coming out of DC. I suspect as the channel is programmed some of the censored cuts may be being picked over the uncensored ones. XM tended to censor their non xL channels pretty heavily (Lucy for example always played the clean versions). It may be a case of the new channel programmer not knowing exactly which cut to pick from the library.

I have just listened to HHN for the past 30 minutes.. .and ALL of the songs have been edited.

why would Hip Hop Nation be edited and Shade 45 is not? I've listened to both and I haven't heard anything censored on Shade 45 but HHN absolutely has edits. I think the poster who said the person picking the songs probably doesn't have a good marker as to what is edited and what is not is spot on. My bet is they clean it up in a few weeks. Just listening to HHN rignt now, Young Jeezy is on and he's said the N*** word loads of times already un-edited. Weird. I think it will work itself out soon.

This is exactly what I think may be happening. And if so I think in a short period of time things will get straightened out.

Just heard an uncensored "F**ker" on alt. nation (ch 21) in "You're gonna go far kid" by The Offspring.

I listened for about an hour, heard 16 songs and 12 out of the 16 were censored.

AND i just heard them bleep out marijuana on Here I Am, seriously??? :scratch: I think i've had my fill for the day.

Bad Boy-Shyne featuring Barrington Levy was censored....but they censor things like "Hittin my moms" and "hollow points"

HOWEVER 50 cent-In da club doesn't censor, "I'm into having sex...."

and I noticed another 50 cent song wasn't completely censored

is Interscope paying more due to shade 45 being one channel up?
