Mulhern is reporting that he has it from good sources (wish Poole were around) that Hendrick Motorsports is about to close a deal that will bring Danica to cup next year. Dale Jr is going to leave Hendrick and move JR Motorsports into cup...him as one driver....Keselowski as the other. True??? guess it could be:Smiley_wink:

I haven't read the article...just heard one of the pre-race shows this morning mention this. What the media doesn't do to get you to read, watch or listen. If there isn't a story...they'll create one....with their "sources":p

I'm really shocked at how many people called in and said they didn't want her to come into NaSCAR. Are they afraid of her? Is by her coming into NaSCAR going to stop the world and cause all life to die?

Get real, people. Danica in NaSCAR will do nothing but help the sport.

The world didn't stop when a woman named Shawna Roberts joined NaSCAR. She failed to make about half the races she was trying to qualify for and was a menace out on the track.

I guess they're afraid she'll do better then they're favorite driver. Heaven forbid she wins a race

NaSCAR fans don't like change or outsiders. Get over it. It's not your sport anymore.

I'd like to see her come...and like to see her succeed, it would be great for the sport. My comment is more about Mulhern and the media in general....in the old days you waited to "report" the facts not write "speculations" based on rumor and gossip. Walter Cronkite always ended his news cast "and that's the way it was" after reporting facts and actual occurances...nowadays it's "and that's the way it might have been or might be."

FOX News revolutionized the "It's not really news unless we say so" mentality :worried:

What do Jerry Nadeau, Joe Nemechek, Brian Vickers, and Casey Mears all have in common?

This report from Mike Mulhern was out Saturday morning and then denied by Hendrick on Sunday. I don't put much faith in what Mulhern reports. I think he sometimes he simply writes what he hears without any fact checking.

Its not the fact shes a woman, its the fact that Danica and another unnamed popular driver would get almost 99.9% of the TV coverage devoted to them while most of the time either running in the back of the pack or Danica not able to make races as she wouldn't be able to keep the car in the top 35 week in and week out.

If she was to come to NASCAR, I think Jack Roush has the route she NEEDS to take, 2 years in the Nationwide and Truck sereis while doing 6 or 7 Cup races a year to get her used to these heavy race cars that the drivers actually have to "manhandle", no pun intended. Also she hasn't set the world on fire in the IRL either. Mediocre at best in that series and there is only 20 or so cars that start a race there.

The only reason that I can think of that a Cup team owner would throw her to the wolves and straight into the Sprint Cup series is that she could possibly bring in a top notch sponsor because of who she is otherwise it is just plain ludicrious plan.

Look at Dario Franchitti last year who was thrown straight into the Cup series, Multiple race winner and former IRL champion, couldn't get past the Coke 600 before his team was shut down looking for sponsorship and way way out of the top 35 and missing handfuls of races.

It has also taken multiple race winner and former IRL champion Sam Hornish Jr at least 2 full seasons to get to where he can run half way decent this season and get a few good finishes.

If you're trying to imply that the TV coverage is already 90% + devoted to that other unnamed popular driver, you'd be wrong. There are places that you can go to actually see those numbers. Here's one.....

NASCAR Coverage Stats

It would be a huge deal for her to come to NASCAR just because of who she is. Like it or not she's popular. She would get coverage because people would want to see her.

Bingo, you are correct!

Ok, let me repharse on the other unnamed driver, since TNT has taken over it has gotten 100% better, but with DW and the Fox clowns, it seemed to me it was who was leading, shrubby, and other unnamed driver for 90+% of there coverage, almost unwatchable to me.

See her do what, fail miserably then go crawling back to the IRL.

Easy. They weren't the most popular driver in NASCAR... You go through all that media mess to get him, and now that he's seemingly not working out, you're going to kick him out, again, for DANICA PATRICK? Nope, I don't see it.

If you're talking Digger, I'll agree with you but if your talking Jr., I'll disagree. He hasn't really been all that much of a story this year.

Perhaps. Still would be huge for NASCAR either way. She would be wildly popular IMO.

I think I'll just agree to disagree with you on this one, cause I just don't see this working out with her being all that wildly popular, maybe the first 2 races but after a few 40th or worse finishes and struggling to keep the car in the top 35 and possibly missing races I just don't see it working out on the popularity side either.

I'd guess if she didn't get placed into a top 35 car already at the beginning of the year, her car owner would buy one of the start-n-park rides every week to get her into the top 35.

If I was Danica.........there is NO WAY I would come to nascar unless it was in a Hendrick ride. (yes, including the side teams)

Assuming I'm REALLY in it to win and not just to make a show.

She has the best stuff now in the IRL and she doesn't win. She's as overrated as whats his name in the 88.

People complain about the FOX love affair with Jr, good lord the media hype on wonderbitch will be insane.

Can't remember
Hey now! That's ms wonderbitch LOL!!! :p

If she wants to come over, let her. Then it's put up or shut up for her. The part I didn't like is I heard reports that if she comes over, she said she wants to be with one of the top tier teams and go right to the Cup side, duh, wouldn't any driver want that?
Most start at the bottom and work their way up and she should have to do it the same way. Just my opinion! :)
