Personally, I think this sucks. I like Kyle. He's been through allot in this sport. He speaks his mind and I think has been a great spokesman for the sport. With him no longer being associated with Petty Enterprises I think that it puts a period on the end of that organization. You can say want you want about him never being a factor in the race but at the same time you could say that about many of the drivers. :(

I like Kyle too. I'll always remember the first time they had the first in-race reporter with him years ago, and someone ran into him in the opening laps, and he exclaims on live tv "WHO THE <BLEEP> WAS THAT?" :p It is kinda painful to see the Petty organization left in the dust, but if they treat family that way, do you really want to work for them?

No great loss.

Kyle should've retired as a driver long ago. He hasn't been competitive in years.

If you removed all of the teams that aren't competitive, you wouldn't have much left. I think that all of these guys are important to the sport. While Kyle isn't my driver, I would miss him in the sport. I hope that he continues as an announcer. He's been around a long time & I think that he adds allot to the broadcast.

Nobody said anything about removing uncompetitive teams.

Remove Kyle Petty, and put a young up-and-comer in there instead, who has a chance to mature into a good, competitive driver.

Kyle wasn't much to begin with, and he's dead in the water now.

Could one substitute Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in the above statement?

I'm not a big fan of Junior, either.

However, he has proven himself capable of winning some races. Junior won six times in 2004, including the Daytona 500.

He hasn't done much since, but he's still better than Kyle Petty.

I disagree totally. Kyle has added a lot to the sport and has lost a lot to the sport. I hope that Kyle and Richard do not have tension because of this. THAT would be a tragedy in and among itself.

I have to agree with Musicologist on that KP should have been replaced a long time ago. Even when Adam died in 2000, Kyle started 2001 in the 45 Sprint Car and missed 7 races that year. He was barely able to keep the car in the top 35 and last year he proved he didn't need to be in the car to finish in the 30's every week.

Richard Childress saw the writing on the wall back in 1979 and took himself out of his car and put someone else in it. We all see how that turned out...

Just because Kyle has managed to do great things with NASCAR and the Victory Junction Gang Camp doesn't mean he can drive a race car. His 8 wins are nice, but can they keep his job when he hasn't won a race in over 14 years?

Shocker that you and I disagree :p . I think personalities make a sport. Kyle and Mikey are among the best that do not necessarily perform to expection but make it interesting. Imagine if we had Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson's personalities across the board ... how boring would NASCAR be? Makes me cringe thinking about it.

They are fine and have talent BUT personality is necessary to keep NASCAR healthy. I am aggrevated that NASCAR keeps pushing to make the drivers boring and emotionless. Carl Edwards is not going that route and I enjoy it sooo much. Kyle is a wonderful spokesman to show what NASCAR can do and shows emotion and does not hold back.

Yes, KP does have personality. I'm happy he's in the sport, too. Just would have been nice if things would have been a little bit different...

Nope, but you could put M. Waltrip in there! If Kyle sucks, what the hell does Waltrip do? I think Kyle should have gotten out a long time ago too, but I probably wouldnt have either. As for it causing tension between Richard and Kyle, that has been there for years it seems.
