Ken Ober, who hosted the great MTV game show 'Remote Control' in the late 80's, was found dead this past weekend. This show was on during the last period of time MTV was very watchable, at least to my demo. A college buddy of mine was once a contestant on the show, which was a comedic tribute to old game shows and mainly featured TV trivia questions. Loved that show, R.I.P. Ken.

Here's a sample of Remote Control. Note the announcer/ sidekick is Colin Quinn:

Kari Wuhrer got started there, too. Marisol was cute, but Kari was HOT. Was an awesome show - watched it all the time while I was in college.

How about that 'do on Denise there? Wow... some days the 80's were really embarassing (but not as bad as the 70s).

Hell
I'm sure most of us just tuned in during the 2nd and 3rd seasons of the show just to watch Kari Wührer. :D

Of course, who could forget Adam Sandler as "The Stud Boy" :rofl2:

RIP Ken

Sad to hear.

I remember being pissed off that MTV wasn't playing videos for some dumb ass game show.
I wound up laughing a lot more that I thought I would. Then there was Kari Wuhrer. Yum.

I actually had a weird - yet morbid - thought about Ken Ober the other day.

I remembered as a teen he had another game show called "Make Me Laugh" which ran on Comedy Central in 1997, but ran two previous times in the 50's and 70's. He would say in an interview that the other two hosts of that show - Robert Q. Lewis and Bobby Van - were dead, so he was next.

Agreed, the 1980's were a great decade for MTV. Too bad I was too young to fully remember.

As for Ken Ober, my condolences go out to his friends and family.

Sucks. I remember Remote Control being on while I was in high school.

Ka-ri! Ka-ri! Ka-ri! I'd like to stuff her pork chop.

Looks like that 'do was done by Joan Jett's hair stylist (on a bad day). Denise was approprtiately punished in part 2...

Been a while since I've seen that footage. One hand, it was funny stuff, other hand it was the beginning of the end of music videos on MTV.
