In the Sirius email I just received, where they are trying to get me to subscribe to the Best of XM, this is the image they include:

Is this the image that cutting edge SatRadio is really trying to push? Reallly??

I don't like Oprah, but Bob Edwards' show can be pretty good. I guess the only reasons anyone would subscribe to the Best of XM are they're either a big public radio fan or an Opie and Anthony fan. Speaking of them, why aren't they in the picture?

I have XM w/Best of Sirius, and I can say that XM Public Radio is a damn good channel. Sirius w/Best of XM is a better package for public radio, because I'm missing an NPR channel and the CBC. But XM w/Best of Sirius is better if you're into sports and talk, because of baseball and stuff.

That's the only reason why I decided to get the Best of XM lifetime add-on... For XM Public Radio and Bob Edwards.

I've tried to listen to O&A on several occasions, and I'm just being honest here... The show is dull. Just listening to the show makes me sleepy. (No offence to the O&A fans on here).

As for Oprah... Don't make go there... I would never listen to that dreck. :p

XM Public Radio & Bob Edwards
O&A and Oprah

For marketing purposes, they're out to tell you what particular benefit you get from adding the Best of XM to a Sirius subscription. They're not attempting to promote the overall image of satellite radio, nor even the customer benefits of XM, which are legion. They're flogging the meager (absent MLB) benefits of a single, poorly-selling package for Sirius subscribers. What you're seeing is not an imagery problem but a reality problem.

Was that O ten years ago? Love how Howard tells it like it is and trashes her for not mentioning her radio gig on SXM during her TV show, doesn't go to the radio studio and sends her lackeys to do the work while her bank account swells as big as her ego.

That picture of Oprah always scares me because of the shadowing it looks like her neck is so skinny her head is on the verge of falling off.

Yeah, I don't think it's something that generally will turn people onto XM. They could have conveyed Oprah and Bob Edwards in a different way but just showing those two pics of them doesn't entice me whatsoever.

On a side note the new SIRIUS Brochures now have Bruce Springsteen in Sunglasses. I get the sense that Bruce maybe didn't approve of the last image of him. But who knows.

Pretty hackish Photoshop job there on the Oprah. I think you need to bring in a full special effects team to get that working. It's really false advertising. You could subscribe to XM thinking you are getting the skinny Oprah, but instead you either get the fat one, or more likely, her annoying friend Gail.

There's a skinny Oprah? Where?

She disappeared, along with her husband...

:)

edit: It's like The Incredible Hulk. Green Hulk vs Gray Hulk. One comes out when they're angry and wears purple pants, the other only comes out and night and can speak.

Bob Edwards is probably THE reason to get BOXM with the lack of MLB. I still get his 'Bob Edwards Weekend' show on podcast.

With NHL and NBA seasons winding down, there is little in the Best of XM to get excited about. Obviously the best is MLB which cannot be included. Best of Sirius is better for XM subs since they get NASCAR back and they get the NFL.

This show would be the only reason for me.

But I went the Audible.com route instead of Best of XM. Now if Best of XM included Cinemagic it would be more tempting.

Ron & Fez is a pretty good show. I love all the analyzing of Fez's neuroses.

I see 1, 2, and 4 on my SL2. I've heard the others should be appearing soon. The problem with SIR channels is that once you block them on the SL radios, apparently there's no way to unblock them without restoring the original settings.
