Wow...just went to lunch and caught Posty and Alex talking to a reporter (didn't get his name) who stated that the car/tire/track issue doesn't look good.

The track operators/owners reportedly called in nascar (!) to tell them either get it right or don't come back. They blame the new car.

Goodyears saying the heavy car AND the corners of the track are murder on tires.

Well, we know nascar's not going to dump the COT.

interesting...

Personally I don't care if nascar drops Indy. IMO, it's not a "nascar track" (it's an open wheel track), and I don't think the racing there is that good.

As someone who has been going to the 500 since 1967, I was very surprised when the Brickyard 400 was announced. At that time, MHO was that NASCAR folks were accustomed to being able to see the entire track, not just what was happening directly in front of them. I couldn't see NASCAR Nation embracing Indy as a venue.

I would hate to see it go, cause it's so close to me here, but you never know what might happen. Maybe that's where the Kentucky date will come from.

In 1979 Richard Petty won the championship at a track that was made exactly like IMS. Ontario Motor Speedway held like 3 or 4 races there before the mismanagement of the track promoters caused it to close down...:worried:

When I was a kid we used to drive past OMS to visit my step-father parents. I always wished I could go there and watch a race, but I was only 9yrs old in 1979. From what I understand, they put on a good show...:)

I'm looking forward to the Brickyard this year. I hope Goodyear has got it's tire issues worked out and we can have a good race. Cautions every 12 laps is not a good thing...:right:

I would have liked to have seen a race there. In my best Homer Simpson voice, Mmmm, Banked short chutes.
