Howard is crazy is he thinks people are going to put up with the two show a week bullshit. How much clearer can he make that he doesn't care about his show? Good thing there's plenty to enjoy on satellite.

IMO there's one place for Howard to take his talents and that's in-house via podcast. It won't matter he's not on morning radio, because by far Howard is the most interesting, fascinating interviewer out there.

He might have to lose some of the degenerates. Keep Robin (the staightwoman) and a technical team (Fred, BabaBooey) and a third personality (Artie or someone more outrageous but equally domicile). The rest of the f-ups can die in the gutter like they were meant to from birth (IMO of course). Hell if they're still alive they can call in.

The REAL expertise comes in getting Nicole Kidman to tell the world she uses three fingers. No where else that I know, besides maybe Playboy or Penthouse, does a celebrity divulge more intimate information than with Howard.

So guests are the majority of your show. Stop the methodical Steve Langford, Shit's at Work, call an f-up routine. Invite guests in the afternoon when they're good and rested and have a jam fest that's available a few hours later. People will download and listen whenever thay want. Being able to listen almost any time of day is a selling point of Howard 100.

Make it HOWARD. No Sirius, no satellite radio, no radio at all. Cutting edge, ahead of the game, pioneering. If I had any money I'd bet on it.

And if he complains he's got himself to blame:D

Hey Now

beth better get her career in overdrive in this next 18 months, cuz if howie hangs it up, its over for her. no more mike and julia show (even tho cancelled), no more casino cinema (cancelled as well), and definitely no further appearances on the view either.

An even worse fate then you mentioned above:

24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 12 months a year, 365 days a year with Howie Cakes. I don't think that is what she signed on for. :bigahh:

I just had the same thought. Richard and Sal do have their moments, so you'd probably have to keep them.

Howard could do the podcast on his schedule and release them in the early PM hour so people could download and listen the next morning (or whenever they wanted.) They'd probably have to do commercials though.

The only difficulty would be callers...unless he streamed live over the internet, there'd be no way for people to call in.

The issue is that the show has become WAAAAAAAAAAY too predictable:
The first hour or so is callers.
Then you have a commercial break, followed by more callers and Lisa G.
Then there's a break and a guest.
Then there's a break and maybe another guest.
Then there's Steve Langford and Mutt or Robin.
Then there's a break and they finish the news.

I think a lot of it is that he doesn't want to wake up at 3:30 AM anymore, and an afternoon slot would allow him evening time with Beth, mornings to do whatever, etc.

I don't ever see Howard doign a podcast.... He's already said he wouldn't want to do anything from home, he likes doing something "in studio." And he admits to going to bed at 11pm, even on vacation I don't think he'd know what to do with the extra time, and don't see him changing his schedule (ie. sleeping in later) even after he retires.

As for me I'm a recently new listener (2+ years) and Howard is the greatest thing in the morning, there is nothing better, not even close. Everyone that bitches/moans/complains gets to me more then Howard does. He's put 20+ years into the industry, and every person that complains thinks that he owes them something. If he wasn't putting out a product then people would stop listening, (and it seems like many of you should stop listening, and stop romanticizing about the past, its almost as bad as my father telling me stories of 'how it was').

I'm more then fine with Howie going to a 2 days schedule if thats how he slowly exists, far better then him going from a 4 day schedule to telling us to pound sand and does no shows again.

I don't want to get into the entire "vacation thing either" because if your whole argument is that (you don't get 10 weeks so why should he) then go cry on your mommy's shoulders.

On a totally unrelated (slightly) topic, who thought it was a good idea to even put Mad Dog on against Howard in the morning? He's 123 rated no doubt..... Should put him on after the West Coast reply and he'd do a lot better, or even right before the WUS. Funny that the producer (can't remember his name) said that Mad Dog's station was doing better the last few weeks (suprisingly the few weeks that Howard was on vacation).....

See that's what I love about Howard. His interaction with celebrity's. I don't give a shit about that stupid little "midget" mumbling on for 15 minutes about his miserable life or some whore that screwed Jaba the Hut bareback. I just want Howard to ask my future wife Meme how many fingers she sticks up her yahoo.

The celebity's are dieing for the exposure. Howard could get three on in two hours. The rest of the time he talks about current events with Robin and dickhead.

I just don't want to see Howard leave my entertainment world. We've grown up together.

I don't mind Howards vacations. It's been like that for the ten plus years I've listened to him. I don't even mind the no Fridays. What I do mind is Howard coming back from a 2 week vacation complaining about his work schedule and stress. Give me a fucking break. You have to realize a lot of people that listen to Stern are blue collar workers who put in 50 or 60 hours a week. So when Howard come's back from his hamptons vacation and complains it can get to people.

I also hate it when people glorify Howards schedule. Yea he worked 20 years and gave us great entertainment and I love him for that. Like I said I have no problem with all the time off he gets. Who wouldn't sign a contract like that. It's the people that say since he's worked 20 some years he deserves it. Let me tell you who deserves it...... my military brothers, police offices, fire fighters. Thats who deserves it. Howard gets that time and it's ok with me. Your right he has the best show hands down and I will miss him when he's gone.

As for Mad Dog. Let me tell you about Mad Dog. He knows two sports inside and out. Those sports are tennis and baseball. He talkes about baseball after the series when college football and the NFL are heating up. Thats a huge problem. Plus the man has never been syndicated ever. That should tell you something right there. I gave him two chances and he let me down. His channel is 123 because he's not that good. I'm sure a lot of people on here dig him,but not enough. If you live in NY or the surounding area and listened to him before then your set. If your like me and a lot of others not in NY you want someone that knows all sports and not just baseball and tennis. There are a lot of people that have Sirius XM that don't like in NY. As soon as Mel gets that then the company might start getting better.

From the little I listened to this morning it sounded like more whining about work hours. I get up at 4:30 AM as well and get paid a very small fraction of what they all get paid to get up at 4:30 AM. And I don't get off work at 10:30 AM.

He clearly doesn't need the work and just wants to be a retired rich guy. He wants to enjoy the house and the wife and not have to deal with the work anymore.

Trust me, I'd be wanting to do the same thing. But that still doesn't mean it's not annoying to listen to a billionaire coming off a 2 week vacation whine about having to get up at 4:30 AM. It's even more annoying listening to Artie whine because it's pretty clear that he rolls out of bed at 5AM and into the car with his driver. 5AM is definitely not a crazy early wake up time.

Howard Stern invented Podcasts.

It gets worse......Howard also claims to have invented pods and casts. He and Don Buchwald are currently entangled in a bitter lawsuit with every vegetable farmer they can find, not to mention they are taking action against the AMA for stealing the cast idea. Howard feels he should be getting a few marbles when uncoordinated oafs like Robin need casts after falling gunt-first onto the ground.

Hopefully, the Stern legal team will fare better then they did suing Clear Channel. Hahahahahaha.......
