I notice that as Howard is talking about taking calls from callers all over the country he keeps specifically naming people like Bobo or Ass Napkin Ed rather than just taking random calls.

I was very seriously considering calling in and telling him I would cancel my sub if they kept that stupid crap up.

Just another excuse for Lisa G to get into the studio.

I was thinking the same thing. why does ass napkin and maryanne from brooklyn seem to be the first two callers he picks up on??? and we all knew both of them would f*ck it up.

on another note, HOT97 was a HUGE station in new york. especially in the 90's when lisa g was there. I had heard of that station from when I was in high school back then. and I lived in chicago. and the morning show lisa g was on, was definitely big time. I mean ed lover and dr dre hosted yo MTV raps. so they were on a national show as well as a big time local show terrestrially. of course howard beat them (he beats everyone), but I guaruntee they were the #1 show for blacks and minorities which was definitely the demographic they were aiming for. howard and gary are completely off base with this one.

If they're going to do this, they need to parody it in some way. It just sounds to me like they're imitating it, which isn't really funny or interesting.

This has been one of the funnier things I've heard. I've seen others really dig it as well. I think the jury is still out really. These kind of listener interaction games are so funny. IMO this one still is the best.

I'm not disputing if their station and show was huge. I'm just wondering why they let them all go if their show was big time. Usually the only reason a staion will get rid of a big time ratings magnet show is if they break FCC rules. Their ratings couldn't have been that great or they would have lasted a lot longer.

I can't stand Lisa Glassberg anyway. I hated this bit because it gave her more air time.

The choice of ass napkin Ed was idiotic. The guy can't frickin talk, let alone "rap".

At least they got some random guy from Raleigh, NC at 7:20 when the other guy didn't answer. :)

*points to Badmotherfaker's post.*

Maybe we're on to something? Get the wackpackers to do it and spoof it THAT way?

Amen brother. That has got to be the most annoying bitch on the planet, and they tongue her ass relentlessly. It makes me wanna puke. If she has d-cups, I got a 12 inch pin.

More annoying than Madison?

(Note: I don't listen to Madison, but I take the word of my fellow DRC'ers that she is annoying.)

Stations get rid of popular people all the time for any number of reasons, really. Not all stations act rationally, and generally while ratings rule the roost, sometimes money and personality come into the mix, too. So even if they had decent ratings, their payroll may have been too high to justify. Station fires them, but still potentially comes out ahead in earnings by paying 1 young guy fresh out of college, or some desperate older guy not-so-fresh out of college a pittance of what those previous 3 people made. Lower ratings, perhaps, but better numbers in the bank, perhaps, too.
