I keep hearing the ads and I just checked howardstern.com. This is a TWO WEEK special. I just thought it would run for one week and then they would just run it again. But it is two seperate segments for the two weeks.

Part 1 is 1985 through 1988 and part 2 is 1988-1990. I was hoping that this would include all of the K-Rock days and go all the way up through his last day on terrestrial but that is just so much to cover.

I'm excited for this special. I loved the first one.

Actually, I look forward to these vacation specials as it gives me time to discover other channels on Sirius.

Did you guys get the email with the HOHSII "poster"?

"The event of a lifetime for every Howard Stern fan" Gotta love his self-promotion, it cracks me up.

I ususally don't listen to the best ofs, MTT or any the usual vacation fair but I loved the first History of Howard. I remember just sitting in my kitchen, doing work in the evening on my laptop while it aired. I thought it was amazing. The production value alone was incredible. I know Howard is a shameless self promoter (howard TV anyone?) and I usually take it with a grain of salt but these specials are fantastic--the guy that does the voiceover makes them so great--I forget his name but he is the one that did the "Behind the Music" specials on VH1.

For me all of his work up until Sirius is now irrelevant, the show is that much better. It's like listening to early Pink Floyd, then Dark Side of the Moon comes out. Or when you get HDTV. Or Tecmo Bowl vs. Madden. No going back, evolution baby!

I can't wait for the special! It's going to wrap up around 2 years before I started listening so it'll be cool to hear all that old stuff. I just can't believe that it's going to be like 55 hours of content. I'm going to have to set aside time to listen or I'm going to be way too behind when they get back on the 5th...

I hope they continue with this and do another special next year. It would cover my listening era and it would be a blast to revisit the stuff that hooked me on the show back when I was 16.

I can't wait for this series to air. I'm going back to Act I (which I have archived in 128k) and I would like to pick up right where it left off when Act II airs.

Who is going to record it? I'm going to record on my Stilettos.
Last Year I recorded it to my computer but got some great copies from DoubleE (I think) with the commercials edited out and every file named with title, segmet, etc. Very cool!

I'm readying a double dose of recording, compared to last year. Couldn't believe it was 10 days worth when I heard it. Got Xmas and New Year's on work days this time, so those days will be tough. Using Sound Forge to record off my Starmate Replay at work, the off days from work I guess I'll record it off my Inno, shitty sound quality though compared to Sirius.

Having a record snow fall here in Portland, probably stay home tomorrow and make sure I get the first day of recording in, and enjoy on my recliner!! This is going to be one for the annals boys.

I hope that my regular 6-hour blocks will be sufficient to get the full show each day.

I won't be doing the fancy editing that DoublEE will be doing, but I will be archiving it like I do every other episode of the Stern show... :)

I was going to ask, does anyone know if it will run longer then 6 hours? I have a SL10, so it can record pretty much one block of the show a day, then I can dump it onto the computer. If its over that, it's hard to schedule it tp record it all.

I don't think anyone outside of the Sirius team really knows the answer. Last year, 3 of the 5 episodes were over 6 hours. I'm thinking with 10 days of shows, they probably will clock in under 6 hours per episode. Gary said is was something like 55 hours of content, which obviously averages out to 5.5 hours per show.

I think last year I recorded in 7 hour blocks and trimmed them based on the lengths that were reported on the Stern forum at SBS. I think it was DoublEE that posted the show length every day.

Edit: I just updated my recording schedule with 7-hour blocks just to be safe...

So far so good, and most of the stuff is background so far. Should really get rolling from here. I know everyone is down on the tapes teams and all, but these HHS specials are some of the best productions ever. I understand being upset about MTT being the red-headed stepchild, but imagining the time that goes into this stuff, at least we know the tapes team isn't totally misused.
