The prices for each different service is not bad at all considering how much one map update costs. This makes getting a Garmin unit more tempting.

Yeah, I am on a GPS forum and they have been saying this was coming for some time now. I am a year behind right now and every time I start my Garmin it tells me I need to update. I will likely do this Lifetime Map update when it becomes available. Seems the updates will come more often than just once a year too basically coming quarterly. This will certainly help keep the maps updated.
