Personally I'm not a fan of tattoos on women, and I have one myself. I know, I know double standard. But I received the best reason ever for getting a tattoo back when I was a wee lad of 24, back before tattoos became trendy. Only sailors (like my father) had them in those days.
Since he had one, I asked my dad what he thought about me getting a tattoo for my birthday, half hoping he'd talk me out of it. Much to my surprise, he said it was a great idea. When I said I was shocked he recommended it he replied
"No, you should definitely get one. That way, when you get to be my age you can look at it and remember what an asshole you were as a kid."
The very next day I got a tattoo. Never wanted another one, but I don't mind the one I got.
