SiriusXM should consider doing some more curating on their listener-generated countdowns. Apparently a lot of their listeners are idiots.

The "Flirty 30" is a countdown purporting to be "the love songs listeners love the most." The time range is 1990s to today. Here's what "the listeners" came up with:

Ignore for a moment the obvious homerism from One Direction and BTS fans and the recency bias (no Boyz II Men? Mariah Carey? Sappy Disney love themes?). Who the hell thinks that "Driver's License" is a love song? It's a breakup cry about bring dumped for another woman. "Someone You Loved", "Attention", "Moral of the Story" definitely don't belong on this list either.

At any rate, I listened so you don't have to. You're welcome.
 
Lame list. I mean "I Will Always Love You" is a f***in breakup song. People are dumb.

Even though I think the song sucks, an obvious choice would have been "Call Me Maybe". I mean, if ever there was a flirty song that's it.
 
Went to a wedding this weekend and "Every Breath" was played during cocktail hour. At least it wasn't one of "their songs".
 
My wife and my song is "Free Falling" by Tom Petty. It's one of those completely inappropriate songs for the occasion. It became our song when we were remote dating. She was in WV and I was in Toronto. We were on ICQ and chatting. I had the radio on in the background and the song came on. I was in the process of falling completely in love with her and the chorus came on about how he was free falling and that was precisely the feeling I had at that time. I mentioned it to her on the chat and 20+ years later it is still our song.
 
My wife and I have a bunch of songs. Our wedding song was Marc Cohn "True Companion". Our cake cutting song was Peter Gabriel "In Your Eyes". When we couldn't be together I made a mixtape of 7 or 8 songs.

But none of them were 'flirty'.

Van Halen "Jump" is flirty.

That list in the first post has practically no flirty songs (of the ones I know anyway)
 
Our actual wedding song is Change the World by Eric Clapton (Head Over Feet was our first song together). A few years ago, we saw Peter Frampton on his acoustic solo tour, and he introduced his writing partner, Gordon Kennedy, who happened to be the composer of Change the World. It was an awesome surprise.

Our recessional hymn at the end of the wedding was this one (played from cassette over the church sound system):



If anyone hanged around inside the church after that one, this one played as a filler.
 
We had a keyboard player on a harpsichord thing for our ceremony. During the processional after the ceremony - is that the recessional? - he played the Beatles' Here, There, and Everywhere. It was nice as an instrumental; it was kind of like "hey, that sounds familiar ".
