SiriusXM should consider doing some more curating on their listener-generated countdowns. Apparently a lot of their listeners are idiots.
The "Flirty 30" is a countdown purporting to be "the love songs listeners love the most." The time range is 1990s to today. Here's what "the listeners" came up with:
1. "Little Things" One Direction
2. "Into You" Ariana Grande
3. "Adore You" Harry Styles
4. "Perfect" Ed Sheeran
5. "Love Story" Taylor Swift
6. "Just the Way You Are" Bruno Mars
7. "Love Me Like You Do" Ellie Goulding
8. "Anyone" Justin Bieber
9. "Driver's License" Olivia Rodrigo
10. "I Will Always Love You" Whitney Houston
11. "Someone You Loved" Lewis Capaldi
12. "Heart Wants What It Wants, The" Selena Gomez
13. "As Long As You Love Me" Backstreet Boys
14. "Without Me" Halsey
15. "Attention" Charlie Puth
16. "No Ordinary Love" Sade
17. "Speechless" Dan & Shay
18. "My Heart Will Go On" Celine Dion
19. "Moral of the Story" Ashe, Niall Horan
20. "Teenage Dream" Katy Perry
21. "She Will Be Loved" Maroon 5
22. "All of Me" John Legend
23. "If I Ain't Got You" Alicia Keys
24. "Young and Beautiful" Lana Del Rey
25. "Butter" BTS
26. "Crazy in Love" Beyoncé & Jay-Z
27. "If It Ain't Me" Dua Lipa
28. "Kiss from a Rose" Seal
29. "Truly Madly Deeply" Savage Garden
30. "Easy on Me" Adele
Ignore for a moment the obvious homerism from One Direction and BTS fans and the recency bias (no Boyz II Men? Mariah Carey? Sappy Disney love themes?). Who the hell thinks that "Driver's License" is a love song? It's a breakup cry about bring dumped for another woman. "Someone You Loved", "Attention", "Moral of the Story" definitely don't belong on this list either.
At any rate, I listened so you don't have to. You're welcome.
