Tonight on ABC, 10:00 pm Ms. Diane Swayer picks up the mantle in "A Hidden America: Children of the Mountain"

Covering two years of reporting from Central Appalachia

When was the last time that TV had really anything to say about the people and the beautiful children of this part of our America ??

I hope it gets a lot of viewing -

For The Children - Always The Children....................... :candle:

I've seen the commericals on TV, but it's on during the NASCAR Truck race...

I love West Virginia. It was one of the few places I thought about moving to when I started driving a truck. It's very beautiful and the most of the people there are very nice...:D

It's just too far away from where my mom lives...:worried:

Maybe if they put it online I'll watch it...:)

I thought that ABCs using captioning whenever the kids talked was a little condescending. Sure, they have a heavy "mountain" accent but not so much that you couldn't understand them.

My mother was raised in West Virgina and from what I have been told they were very poor. Her father was a coal miner and he died at a early age leaving my grandmother with 6 kids to raise. She was a hard working lady who never asked for anything, worked her whole life, never complained.

I remember going back and seeing the house that my mom grew up in, it was a little more than shack. We were poor, but that was eye opening.

The problem is that the schools in this country are not what they should be and until people see that there is hope of a better life for your children some people will just give up.

Sad.
