Apparently the big screen is low enough that the punters in last night's game hit it with the ball.

Titans kicker exposes problem in Cowboys Stadium - ESPN

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Tennessee Titans felt they exposed a major flaw in Cowboys Stadium during the first football game played in the building when reserve punter A.J. Trapasso hit the gigantic HD screen that hangs over the field.

:hah:I heard on XM144 (Mad Dog Radio) that it could cost 2 million dollars to "adjust" the HD screen.

So the screen is hanging in the open air? I don't suppose it rains in Texas does it? Would water damage not be a concern or did they pay through the nose to make it waterproof?

Are you saying Jumbotrons can't withstand wet weather?

What about heat or sub-freezing temps? :right:

I still think JJ plays Wii on that thing from his suite

At a local Pizza joint they bought outdoor TVs which were supposed to withstand rain, sun, wind, etc. We were on the patio the 3rd week after they were installed and there was a big black blob in the middle of the screen. It is hard to make electronics truly waterproof. But then again, a picture of a big black blob broadcast over national TV from the home of the Cowboys would be quite amuzing. Almost as amusing as a Cowboy loss!

The funny thing is that the Cowgirls don't see it as a problem. The NFL really should force them to move it or put every punt that hits it (if punted by the visting team) at the 1 yard line.

And if done by the Cowboys, have it also placed at the Cowboy's 1 yard line.

For me it's mainly that snake oil salesman from Arkansas with an ego the size of Texas, Jerry Jones. Also the Barry Switzer and the Dallas Convict years. Just can't like 'em. Some of the same reasons I hate the Raiders. That kook Al Davis.

Now the Cowboys of old, with Staubach and Tom Landry, that was a team you could respect.

I still think the 92 cowboys were a team you could respect at the time. After that winning season is when most of them got in trouble. And Jimmy Johnson was a great coach then. They respected him and wanted to work hard for him. Those were the days.

It's because the Cowboys have what fans of othet teams want...

Yeah you're right...jealousy and envy.

The Patriots fit the above characteristics as well (I guess not as large a fan base), but I actually like them. Weird

I don't like the Cowboys because I'm from Houston. There are a lot of Dallas transplants down here that constantly remind you of their 5 Super Bowl rings...it gets annoying.

I don't know what I'll do if the Rangers win a World Series before the Astros. At least we have the Rockets for bragging rights.

I wouldn't concern yourself too much with either possibility. :) (Sorry).

Doesn't look promising for the Astros in the near-future.

The Rangers are the only team in baseball that hasn't won a playoff series yet. I like that ;) Hopefully it stays that way...they have a chance this season though...

If they got the wildcard they will face the Yankees in the first round. Much as I would be forced to root for them, it would not be promissing.

The Senators/Rangers have made the playoffs three times in their history ('96, '98, '99). Guess who eliminated them in the first round each time?

Wow, there is a lot of overall hate for Texas coming out of Canada.

No. Just some Canadians. :)

One of my best friends (also a Canadian) is a Cowboy fan to the core. I try not to hold that against him. I do enjoy rubbing the salt in when they collapse though.

And I don't dislike Texas itself aside from the politics and the sports teams. :)

(Actually I don't even dislike the Astros -- I just don't see them doing much.)

One day professional baseball will come to Texas.
