I am desparately looking for an efficient way to convert the factory XM over to Sirius on my 2008 Saab 9-3. I saw various posts for converting the 9-7 by using the SIR GM1, but no mention of other Saab models. Has anyone sucessfully converted their unit?

I have the factory stereo with controls on the steering wheel.

Thanks!

I will do some more research for your model but as of now I may not have a solution available for you. I will need to check a few things. Does your radio have a BAND button on it?

I would be wiling to guess our GM2L will work but it's not certain.
I found some insight about an iPod interface here 2008-2009 9-3s and iPods - Page 2 - SaabCentral Forums

I'm pretty sure with the GM Sirius Connect SIRGM2L and this Antenna Adapter will allow you factory like SIRIUS. But again it's not for sure. If you want to try it out we can give you a big discount for being a tester for us. It's really simple to install, just get into the trunk and pull back the carpet, swap out the GM2L with the XM Tuner and then unplug the antenna from the XM Tuner plug it into the Antenna Adapter and plug that into the GM2L Box.

I could not find any more information on if it would work or not, but after looking up what hardware is in your car I feel it would work. If you want to try this product out give me a call and I will give you a big discount like Taylor said. 773-772-4340

SIR-GM2L Works

I installed the SIR-GM2L in my Saab TurboX (basically a 9-3 on steriods) and works great. You can get a used unit from TSS-Radio for 129 bucks. From what I'm told they are units from rental cars that are no longer using sirius. The unit comes activated and from what I read on other GM vechicles that have installed the used unit from TSS-Radio the account is active until October about 4 free months =P. It is easy to install maybe 2-3 mins, the unit is the trunk passenger side. Remove quick disconnect tabs and the unit is visible and easily removed. I used the the antenna adaptor so I'm not sure how good the reception is yet. Steering wheel controls work and sound is good.
