I am sure glad that Spirit on Sirius's side will likely replace Messenger on XM's side. Messenger was really pathetic in my opinion. Spirit is a GREAT contemporary christian channel.

I assume since XM already has a Spirit, it too will be replaced with Sirius Praise, whic his basically the same music. I don't listen to this channel on either service so can't really compare.

Now I do hope that the Sirius side get Enlighten which is Southern Gospel. I really like this channel in doses. It isn't a channel I can listen to for hours. But I do enjoy some of the Sunday morning programming.

Boy this is GREAT news if True!

A rumor is circulating that Marlin Taylor has left XM radio, and that XM radio is dropping enLighten, its Southern Gospel channel. Marlin emailed me to set the facts straight:

Daniel,

It appears that reports have circulated that I am no longer with XM Radio … and that possibly enLighten will be dropped.

I want everyone to know that this is not true - I am still with XM and very much in charge of enLighten … and, due to the vast number of XM subscribers who indicate they listen to little, if anything, else … management is not even thinking of dropping the channel.

I’ll have more information down the road.

My best,
Marlin

I still wish XM wouldn't have dropped The Torch. First it was dropped from the sats, then from online. The Kiln (basically harder Christian Rock) was a great show and it sucks that it's hard to find music like that elsewhere now.

Well there are those that really liked Revelation on Sirius, which in my opinion was actually better than the Torch. I doubt we'll see this genre return. XM apparently felt that Southern Gospel was more popular and from all indications Sirius XM will be keeping it even after the channel merger.

The channel on Sirius was Revolution, not Revelation (although that could have been a great channel name!) I think "Spirit ROCKS!" on Friday nights is a good program for those of us missing Revolution and the Torch. I haven't found a similar program on XM.

I have enjoyed Revolution on Sirius, but once they took it away. I have tried Spirit but I don't care for that type of music. So I'm hopping that maybe it could return, but I seriously doubt it!

Hey RR, thanks for the clarification on that channel name. I think my name is better. hehehe Anyway, it was a great channel, but just never got a following at least according to Sirius. But hey I am just glad that it sounds like Enlighten is going to be kept as I perfer Southern Gospel to Christian Rock!

Yeah, I record the Spirit ROCKS each week too.

My feeling is that Spirit on Sirius is 100x better than the Message on XM. So, I am glad Spirit will be replacing it.

Here is hoping that if they merge we will get both a channel like Spirit and Revolution both.

Someone on another forum is saying they've heard that Spirit will be replaced with the Message. Boy I sure hope not. GEEZ, why can't they announce what they are doing. Freaking SIRIUS, this is what drives me crazy with them.

I'll have to record it and see what it's like. Thanks :) I only listened to Revolution a few times (it was prior to buying a Sirius sub) but I liked what I heard.

Then again, who knows with the merge what kind of channels will pop up. Maybe there's still hope a channel like The Torch or Revolution will come back.

Sirius got The Message and Enlighten, and Spirit got axed.

Well technically the name is all that changed, the exact same folks running Spirit is actually now running The Message, so it is basically The Spirit with a new name.

Enlighten was a great add, I love southern gospel.
